One of seven priests named as defendants in 1984 civil suits filed by a 16-year-old girl sexually abused by Santiago (Henry)Tamayo and then by six other Filipino priests in Los Angeles. All fled the country (with support from the Archdiocese) after the suits were filed. The other priests were Henry Caboang, Valentine Tugade, Sylvio Lacar, Victor Balbin, and Angelo Cruces. One of the priests (revealed in 2007 to have been Tugade) fathered the girl's child. The Archdiocese contributed to support of the child after the dismissal of one suit. The survivor received $500K as part of the large 2007 Los Angeles settlement.

Named publicly as accused on the Diocese's list 1/2/2019 (name misspelled Philip Abinate). Incidents of abuse in 1970, 1971, 1975 were reported to the Diocese in 2003. Left the priesthood at some point, married and raised a family. Died 6/27/2008.

As a newly ordained priest, Acebo confessed to Bishop Cummins in 1986 that he had molested a 16-year-old girl. He wanted to make the 'relationship' public but Cummins refused. He sent Acebo for treatment and reassigned him. Acebo served in four parishes over the next 15 years. Named in civil suit and apology service. Included on the Diocese's list in 2019, which notes abuse 1986-1988, and that Acebo was removed in 4/2002. Given a life of prayer and penance.

Priest of the the diocese of Tehuacan, Mexico, where he was accused in 1987. Would have young men and teenagers spend the night with him at his parish rectory. Severely beaten in 1986 or 1987, possibly one or more of these guests. Sent to the U.S. Archdiocese of Los Angeles, assigned to a parish. Warrant issued 1988 for abuse of at least two boys. L.A. archdiocesan officials didn't contact police until after confronting Aguilar. Fled to Mexico. Reportedly abused at least 26 boys in L.A. in 10 months. Estimated to have abused at least 60 children in Mexico, before and after his time in the U.S. Criminally charged in Mexico in 1997, convicted in 2003. Not sentenced, allowed to stay in ministry. In 9/2006, some survivors filed suit in L.A. accusing a Cardinal from Mexico of covering up Aguilar's past and helping him transfer to U.S. before abuse. Laicization announced in 7/2009. New suits 6/2009, 8/2010, 12/2010 and 3/2013. Personnel files released 1/2013. Settlement of 11 claims 2/18/2014. Suit filed 6/2014 by two brothers claiming Aguilar sexually abused them at St. Agatha's in L.A. in 1987, when they were ages 9-11; settled 12/2015. In 2013 was known to be wanted for sexual abuse in Mexico and L.A. Reportedly in 12/2020, the Archdiocese of Mexico City said they believed Aguilar was dead and that they were not aware of complaints against him.

Deacon. Pleaded no contest in 3/2002 of providing pornographic material to two boys and to misdemeanor sexual battery on one of them between 1999-2000 at Epiphany Church in South El Monte. Taken into custody in 5/2002 pending sentencing. Sentenced in 6/2002 to one year in county jail, a 44-month suspended state prison term and five years felony probation. Required to register as sex offender. Per the Los Angeles archdiocese's list in 12/2018, Ahumada is deceased.

Maronite Rite priest with authority to practice within Maronite and Latin Rite churches. Suspended from ministry at a Columbus OH parish in 5/2018 due to an investigation in Los Angeles of a credible allegation that he had sexually abused a minor in 2004. On the Los Angeles archdiocese's updated list 12/6/2018; noted to have left the archdiocese in 2007. On the Columbus diocese's list 3/1/2019. Removed from ministry.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese of Sacramento on its list 4/30/2019. Worked at Jesuit High School 1970-1975. Report from Jesuits West to the diocese in 2019 of allegation deemed credible of abuse of a boy 1970-1975. Included on the Jesuits West Province list in 12/2020. Noted to have been removed from ministry and living under a safety plan at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, CA.

Ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1967. Incardinated into the Diocese of Santa Rosa 6/17/1996. Sued in 2004 for the alleged sexual abuse of a girl 1967-1970, beginning when the girl was age 8 and a student at Immaculate Conception Parish school in Monrovia, where Alzugary was assigned. He then sued her for defamation of character; his suit was dismissed in 4/2006. He also sued SNAP and the woman's attorney.  SNAP sued him for malicious prosecution and settled. The Santa Rosa Diocese said Alzugaray was absolved of wrongdoing in 1995 and again in 2005. The Diocese reopened the investigation in 2/2008. The Bishop ignored the Review Board's advice; Alzugaray was still active as of 4/2010. He retired 10/31/2011 and died 01/31/2014. Included on the Diocese of Santa Rosa's list 1/12/2019.

Convicted in 1986 of 26 counts of felony molestation of four boys. Sentenced to five years probation after treatment at Servants of the Paraclete. Continued to molest boys while in therapy. Arrested in New Mexico in 1990 for abuse of another youth. Sentenced to six years prison for violating CA probation. Laicized in the mid-1990s. Prior to 2005 there were $4.62M in settlements regarding Andersen.

Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its updated list 12/6/2018. It notes a report in 2015 of incidents alleged to have occurred 1987-1992. Anderson died in 2013. Per his obituary, Anderson was a priest of the Archdiocese for over 20 years, after which he had a career in personal finance.

From Ireland. Began his priesthood in the U.S. in 1938 in Ukiah CA. Also assigned in Bend and Roseburg OR. Pastor 1970-1978 of Old Mission Santa Ines in Solvang CA. Died in 1980. In its 2004 report, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles counts two accusers. Named in at least one civil suit. 

Named publicly as credibly accused on the Fresno diocese's list in 2021. Ordained for the Diocese of Monterey-Fresno. Noted to have left the diocese in 1952. The 1954 Official Catholic Directory (which reflects 1953-1954) shows Angelino as a priest of the Monterey-Fresno diocese, retired. The following year he is indexed as a U.S. Army chaplain. Per news articles in April 1952, Angelino was arrested and charged on two counts of "immoral conduct" with a boy, and admitted to "improper conduct" with two boys for over more than a year. He was pastor of Sacred Heart in Merced at the time. In 1977 a news piece shows that Angelino was appointed by the Orthodox Roman Catholic Movement to Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Walnut Creek CA. He died in 1986.

From India. Arrived in the U.S. in 1998. Placed on leave in 4/02, reinstated in 7/02. A woman filed suit in 9/02 claiming Arakal had touched her 13-year-old daughter on her breasts in a sexual manner in 2001. Also accused of touching the breasts and pelvic area of younger daughter. One girl told another priest who told Arakal; both men confronted the girl. Jury cleared Arakal of sexual battery but awarded family $20K for way the two priests responded. In 2009 Arakal was parochial vicar at St. Bernard in Tracy, CA.

"Pon." Aranda was born in the Philippines and arrived in the U.S. in 1975. He worked in Corona CA  for five years, and moved to Texas in 1992 or 1993, where he worked in the Diocese of Galveston-Houston as chaplain at a county hospital. Named by the Diocese in 2004 as one of six priests accused of the sexual abuse of minors. Allegations against all six were received during 2003 and were deemed credible. Subject of a $1.55M settlement in 2005. Died in 3/1996 in Houston.

Monsignor. Parish priest, longtime director of boys' homes, CYO director. Held numerous chancery positions. Chaplain for the San Francisco 49ers. At some point between 1992 and 2002 a teenage Marin County boy accused Armstrong of having improper contact with him.  Died 11/17/2009.

Deacon. Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 4/30/2019, Assigned to St. Anthony's in Winters 1991-2012. Two allegations received by the diocese in 2012 of abuse of girls under age 14, occurring 1977-1983. One of the allegations had been reported to the parish in 2009, but not to the diocese. Removed from ministry and faculties withdrawn in 2012.

From Ecuador. Ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Accused in 2003 of abuse of an 11-year-old boy 1975-1976, while pastor at St. Alphonsus parish in East Los Angeles. Arzube denied the allegations. Retired in 1993. Included in the Archdiocese's report in 2004, one accuser noted. Named in a civil suit which was included in a $660M settlement with the Archdiocese in summer 2007. Died 12/25/2007. Limited personnel file released in 1/2013.

Sued in 1993, accused of abuse of three boys. Per the Los Angeles Archdiocese's 2/2004 report, there were five accusers alleging abuse 1967-1986. Three Servite High School students alleged abuse 6/1967-1975; Atherton was assigned to the school as registrar, office manager and music director. The abuse occurred in multiple places, including on road trips from CA to Portland OR, Utah and British Columbia. The Order knew of the abuse by 1990; Atherton was working in 1990 Portland OR at the National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, also called The Grotto. He was sent to the Servants of the Paraclete in NM for treatment. He was also accused of abusing in the Diocese of Orange CA where two suits were filed in 1/2003. The Diocese settled in 2005 for $4,169,325 but did not include Atherton on its list of accused priests. Reportedly in 2002 he was still a member of his order, still working at The Grotto, under close supervision. He "fully acknowledged" the abuse. His personnel file was released in 2015. The Los Angeles Archdiocese's list in 12/2021 shows Atherton to be deceased.

From the Archdiocese of Morelia in Mexico. Arrived in CA in 1982, incardinated into the Diocese of San Bernardino. In 6/2002 an allegation of "sexual harassment and misconduct involving a minor" was filed with the church by a woman. Placed on leave. In 9/2002 two sisters filed suit alleging Ayala abused them at ages 7 and 9 in 1988 and 1989 when he baby-sat them. Their mother had reported their abuse to the Diocese in the late 1980s, with no response. The Diocese settled with them for $30K in 2004. Ayala moved to Mexico shortly after he was placed on leave; possibly in active ministry there. Indications in 2014 he was a retired priest there. Name included on the San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/2018, noted to be "permanently barred from ministry in the Diocese."

Accused of abuse of a boy in 1997. Another priest saw them "wrestling" and notified authorities. The boy denied the abuse but his parents sued. Settled for $750K in 2000. Aylward was supported by the archbishop until Aylward admitted in a 1999 deposition that he inappropriately touched numerous boys over a 12-year period. Placed on leave in 2000. Retired in 2005.

Monsignor. Longtime spokesman for the diocese. Accused in 2002 of sexually abusing a girl who came to him for advice after being abused by Rev. John Lenihan. Baird countersued the plaintiff in 4/2002. His suit was dismissed in 2002 and he was ordered to pay attorney fees for the plaintiff. A second woman also alleged abuse as a child. Continued in active ministry. Retired in 2017.

At least 23 accusers. Told Cardinal Mahony in 1986 that he had sexually abused two boys. Sent to treatment in NM, returned to ministry in nine more parishes; continued to abuse many more children. The two brothers settled in 2000 for $1.3M for abuse 1984-1999, beginning when they were ages 5 and 7. Baker continued to abuse the boys after the family moved to Mexico in 1986, despite being 'monitored' by the archdiocese. He would fly the boys to CA and AZ. Removed from ministry. Laicized in 12/2000. Arrested in 2003, charged with over 12 offenses against boys ; charges dropped due to CA Supreme Court ruling. Arrested again in 1/2006. Included in a 12/2006 $60M settlement involving 22 priests. Also included in a 7/2007 massive $660M settlement. Pleaded guilty in 12/2007 to abuse of two boys. Sentenced to 10 years and 4 months in prison. New suit in 6/2010. Released on parole in 10/2011. Arrested for probation violations in 11/2011 and in 9/2012. Some personnel files released in 1/2013. Settlement with 4 in 3/2013 for $9.9M. Suit filed in 2/2020 v the archdiocese and Cardinal Mahony related to Baker's abuse of a boy, ages 6-10, in 1993-1997 at St. Columbkille in South Los Angeles. Confessed to abuse of children in the U.S., Mexico, Thailand and Nepal.

Named as accused in the 2005 Addendum to Archdiocese Report. Allegation of abuse of one minor 1967-1968, while assigned to St. Augustine's in Culver City. The 2016 Official Catholic Directory shows a Fred Balak as director of the Mausoleum at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

Named publicly as accused by the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans on its list 5/31/2019. Allegation received in 2003 of abuse in 1959. Included on the Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/2019, where he worked at Holy Cross Retreat Center in 1969. Died in 2003. Added to Stockton list in 11/2020, where he had faculties 1953-1964 as a mission preacher.

Indicted in 9/1992 on four counts of abuse of a minor; pleaded guilty to one count. Sentenced to nine months in jail and five years probation. Three victims. Family of two boys settled out of court in 1994. Criminally charged in 1999 with 31 counts of sexually abusing two other boys 1979-1986. Sentenced to three years in prison. Settlement of $4.2M from Diocese and Order in 6/2003. On Sex Offender Registry. On San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/2018. Died in 2016. Included on the Order's list of credibly accused.

Priest of the Archdiocese of Yucatan, Mexico, assigned in the Archdiocese of San Francisco CA 1967-1975.  In 1993 a 30-year-old woman reported to San Francisco that Baquedano Pech sexually abused her for several years, beginning when she was 11; the Archdiocese said it was not responsible because he was a visiting priest. She repeatedly warned Mexico church officials, but was kept in ministry there. The woman sued the San Francisco Archdiocese and received a settlement in 2006. He was suspended 4/26/2010 by the Yucatan archdiocese, just after the allegations appeared in a Washington Post news article. 

From Argentina, Diocese of Chascomus. Assigned to San Salvador parish in Colton, CA 2009 and St. Louis parish in Cathedral City, CA 2011-2014. Included on San Bernardino diocese list 10/9/18. Accused in 4/16 of child sex abuse in 2009-10. Police report filed. Was working in Los Angeles archdiocese at time of report. Removed in 5/16. Returned to Argentina. On Los Angeles archdiocese's list updated 12/6/18.

Sued in 2003. Accused of abuse 1982-1988. The L.A. archdiocese counted eight accusers. Also allegations in Tucson, AZ. Settlement in AZ in 2005/2006 under bankruptcy plan for five claiming abuse by Barmasse. These individuals also sued the L.A. archdiocese and were included in a massive $660M settlement in 7/2007. Criminal investigation reopened in AZ in 7/2007. Laicized 5/2/2006. Included on the Tucson diocese's list of credibly accused in 2011.  L.A. personnel file released in 1/2013.

From Argentina. Arrived in the Monterey-Fresno diocese in 1963. Reportedly the Diocese knew of allegations against Battagliola in 1967. In the late 1990s a woman told the Diocese that in 1974 Battagliola sexually abused her son, who was then a 14-year-old altar boy, in San Luis Obispo. Battagliola frequently visited their home. One night Battagliola took the boy for a drive, got him drunk, and had sex with him; the boy contracted a sexually transmitted disease. Lawsuit filed in 2003.  Battagliola was found murdered in a San Francisco motel room in 2/1977. He had been seen checking into the room with a young man in his early 20s. Personnel file released in 1/2013. Included on the Monterey Diocese's 1/2/2019 list of credibly accused.

Ordained for the Diocese of Helena, MT. Director of Catholic Charities. Left active priesthood in 1970.Taught Social Work classes at Montana State University 1970-1981. Opened a sex shop/adult book store in Bozeman, MT in 1981, and another in Spokane. Referred to as "Priest of Porn." On the run for 8 months after a drug-related arrest in 1988. Sold store prior to his 12/1989 arrest. Pleaded no contest in 1990 in Los Angeles to charges of making child porn videos in Mexico and California, recruiting young Mexican boys to participate. Sentenced to 8 years in prison. Died of a heart attack in federal prison in 1992. Included on the Helena diocese's list posted to its website 4/29/2015 in compliance with the non-monetary terms of the 3/5/2015 bankruptcy settlement.

From the Diocese of Tulancingo in Huejutla, Mexico. Incardinated into the Diocese of Fresno CA in 2004. Placed on leave in 3/2016 due to allegations of inappropriate behavior with a minor when he was assigned to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Allegations not made public until 10/2018. On the Los Angeles archdiocese's updated list 12/6/2018, which noted a report in 2016 of incidents in 1999 or 2000. Case closed by the Vatican's CDF after it deemed the allegations not proven. Per the Los Angeles archdiocese's list in 12/2021, the Fresno diocese expected to restore Bautista's faculties. 

Parish priest, high school teacher, hospital chaplain. Worked in the Diocese of Peoria until 1963, when he was transferred to San Diego. Died in 7/1997. First named publicly as accused on the San Diego diocese's 9/14/2018 list. Added to the Diocese of Joliet's list in 2/2021. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report. Report in 1955 to Beatty's superior, Fr. John Burke, that Beatty fondled a St. Patrick Central Catholic High School student, age 16. Beatty was transferred. (Burke is also an accused priest.) Beatty's victim did not come forward again until he spoke with the Attorney General's investigators in 2018. In 2004 another former St. Patrick's student had reported abuse by Beatty in the early 1960s; the allegation was deemed credible, but not publicized.

Ordained for the Diocese of Cleveland, where he was made Auxiliary Bishop in 1947. Bishop of the Diocese of Oakland 1962-1977. Accused in a 12/2022 lawsuit of sexually abusing a girl, age 12, once in 1968. Begin died in 1977.

First named publicly as accused on the San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/18. Assigned to St. Peter and St. Paul in Alta Loma 1985-86. Died in 1/87. Per diocese, it was first aware in 1985 of allegations in the 1960s-70s. Abuse reportedly occurred in IN, KY and NY. (There was also a Wheeling WV diocesan priest, Fr. Joseph G. Bell, who died in 6/86.)

 Warrant issued in 1992 for alleged abuse in 1991 of young girls in Sacramento CA. Fled to Mexico before warrant could be served; became an active priest in the Archdiocese of Acapulco. Reports in 2007 that Mexican villagers wanted him removed because of rumors about him and teen girls for many years. Another US accuser (male) came forward in 2/2007. Suit filed in 3/2007. Diocese sued accuser in 8/2007. Rico was arrested in Mexico in 3/2008; released in 8/2008 before extradition. Another alleged victim came forward in 4/2008. Laicization announced in 2008. More accusations surfaced. On the Sacramento diocese's list 4/30/2019, showing twelve female accusers and three male, all abused under age 14. New allegations in 2019 and 2020 that he sexually abused boys under age 18 and 14. Remained a fugitive as of 10/2021, on the FBI's Most Wanter list. 

Full surname Benson Sotomayor. Accused of abusing at least three boys in San Bernardino, Barstow and Colton in the 1970s and 1980s. Arrested in 1/1987. Pleaded no contest to sexual abuse of one altar boy while working in Barstow CA. Sent to Via Coeli, NM for treatment and ordered to register as a sex offender. With San Bernardino Bishop Starling's approval Benson was transferred in 1987 to the Diocese of Tijuana, México. Tijuana Bishop Emilio Berlie was informed of Benson's past. Two filed suit in 12/2003. Benson's name was included in 3/2007 on the San Diego diocese list. Personnel file released in 10/2010. In 2010 Benson remained an active priest in St. San Judas Ta Deo Church, Ensenada, México. As of 2017, he was believed to be living in Tucson, AZ. Included on the San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/2018.

Assigned in the Diocese of Oakland CA in 2004 when named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles of the sexual abuse of a minor in 1980 or 1981 at St. Anthony Minor Seminary in Santa Barbara. Placed on leave. Returned to active ministry within a month after the Archdiocese could not supply information on the accuser. Named in a civil suit as one of ten accused Franciscans. Settlement announced 8/10/2006. Placed on leave again in 2006. Reinstated in 2/2008 after Archdiocese could not substantiate the allegation.

Investigated in 2002 for allegedly abusing 1985-1988. Per the Los Angeles Archdiocese in 2004, there was one accuser claiming abuse in 1990. Also named in a civil suit. The Archdiocese's list in 12/2021 shows Berumen to have been laicized. Died 12/11/2019.

First named publicly as accused on the diocese's 10/18/18 list. Allegation reported in 1997 that Bettencourt engaged in sexual misconduct with a child while assigned to St. Justin's in 1982. Bettencourt died of AIDS 2/25/90. Lawsuit in 2021 by a man alleging he was drugged and raped at age 16 in 1981 by Bettencourt, and that he contracted HIV as a result.

Abused as many as 25 boys 1969-1989. Pled guilty to abuse of one; sentenced to eight years' prison in 1989. Released in 1994. Registered sex offender. Left the Salesians. Arrested again in 2002 for abuse of one; charges dropped after CA Supreme Court decision. Named in 2003 civil suit. On Oakland diocese's list in 2019. More suits with claims against Billante were filed under the CA Child Victims Act between 2020-2022.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list in 2019, which notes abuse in 1987. Removed from ministry in 4/2002.

From the Philippines. Arrived in CA 1981. Assigned to St. Joseph's in Pomona when removed in 4/2002 due to allegations of abuse of two sisters, ages 12 and 8, 1997-2001. The abuse occurred at the girls' aunt's home in Fontana. Arrested. Pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery in 2003. Received two years probation. One of the two sisters filed suit in 11/2019. After the girls came forward in 2002, a 32 woman alleged she was sexually battered by Bismonte ten years prior.

Worked in IL, NJ, Ontario CA, KY, CA, WDC, WI, PA and MA. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 2006 in L.A. of "accosting" a young girl at a parish in the early 1980s. At the time the suit was filed, Boley was working as parochial vicar in Darien, IL. He left the assignment in 10/2006 and moved to a Carmelite house in Joliet under a "safety plan." Case included in massive 7/2007 $660M settlement by L.A. Archdiocese with 508 plaintiffs. Added 11/22/2020 to the Diocese of Joliet's list of accused. Allegations in a lawsuit of repeatedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl, including rape, in the 1980s at St. Cyril's Parish School in Chicago. Settled in 6/2022. Boley was the girl's teacher; the abuse would allegedly occur when he would make her stay inside during recess under the guise of helping her with her math homework. Boley's accuser said that she likely wasn't the only child he abused because he had someone stay in for recess every day. Included on the Chicago archdiocese's list in 10/2022. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Ordained for Diocese of Santa Rosa. Reportedly placed on leave in 1978. Assigned the same year to St. Anthony's in Kailua, HI. Incardinated into the Diocese of Honolulu 6/18/1984. Accused of abusing a boy at St. Anthony's 1978-1981. Bolger was teacher at the school. Allowed to retire for 'medical' reasons in 2002. Civil suit filed 5/8/2013. Same plaintiff says he was abused by Bishop Ferrario while Ferrario was still a priest at St. Anthony's. Possibly named as accused (but not defendant) in original suit against Ferrario. Died 1/7/2015 in Tijuana, Mexico, where he had been living. On Santa Rosa diocese's list 1/12/2019. It notes he was accused in 1994 of abuse of a minor 1972-1973, and that Honolulu was notified in 1994. Accused in one or more lawsuits sometime between 2019-2022. 

Named publicly by the Archdiocese as accused on it's list updated 12/6/2018. Allegations of abuse in the 1970s reported to the archdiocese in 2010. Noted to have died in 2007.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 11/2004 of sexually abusing a girl 1996-2000, starting when she was ages 16-17. Bongila was working in the Archdiocese of San Francisco during the time in question. He denied the allegations. The suit settled in 2006. The archdiocese investigated and reportedly "cleared" Bongila. In 2013 a second lawsuit reportedly was filed, claiming Bongila sexually abused a male under age 18. It was dismissed in 7/2019 because of lack of participation from the plaintiff in the case. Bongila began work in 2006 as the founding director of the International Leadership Program at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis MN, where he remained as of 1/2022.

A woman filed suit in 2/03 alleging that Booth abused her when she was age 15 in the late 1960s. A second woman filed suit in 12/03 alleging that he molested her 1965-67. He left the priesthood in 1971 to marry a 19-year-old university student. He later became an Episcopal priest, living in California. He denied all allegations. Name appears on list released by San Diego Diocese 3/07. Personnel file released 10/24/10. Died 1/24/12.

Parish priest, high school chaplain. Held chancery positions 1963-2009. Died 11/20/2010. Name quietly added to the Los Angeles archdiocese's Final Addendum posted on its website 1/31/2013.

Sued in 2003, accused of abusing 1973-1982. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2004 counted two accusers. Retired 1/15/1994. Died 1/14/2003. Personnel file released in 1/2013 revealed three complaints 1990-2002. Placed on restricted ministry in 1995 after a man alleged that Boyer molested him in the rectory at least twice at age 13 in 1982-1983. The file revealed another complaint from the early 1980s involving open-mouth kissing of a young man. Three more complainants known.

Named publicly as accused by the Franciscans Santa Barbara Province on its list in 11/2023. Subject of one or more pending lawsuits. Credibility of allegations not yet determined. Died 5/28/2019. Per his obituary, Rivas was a Franciscan for 63 years.

"Jack." Per 12/2003 news, a woman had filed suit alleging that when she was 17 and pregnant in the early 1960s, her family sent her to live with friends in Fresno. The suit says that Bradley, a priest at St. Agnes Mission, abused her for five months while she was pregnant. He is not indexed in Official Catholic Directory after 1970. Included in 2021 on the Diocese of Fresno's list of credibly accused.

From Ireland. Ordained for Sacramento. In 1999 a woman alleged sexual abuse by Brady in the 1970s when she was in her early teens. She filed suit in 2000; settled for $350K. Brady was sent for therapy and reassigned. In 2002 another woman alleged abuse as a girl by Brady in the 1970s. Allegation deemed credible. She filed suit; settled in 2/2004. A third woman also sued. The first alleged victim filed a new suit claiming defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress after Brady revealed her suit. Included on the Diocese's list 4/30/2019, which shows reports in 2000 and 2003 of abuse of girls in the 1970s. Faculties withdrawn in 2002. Retired in 2004.

Accused of abuse of six teenage girls in 1999 in Antioch. He was reported to police but the girls refused to testify and the charges were dropped. He was transferred to Utah and had "similar problems" there. Transferred to San Francisco and then to St. Albert's Seminary in Oakland in 2002, to live with several other admitted sex offenders. Bravo was allowed to come and go freely. He left St. Albert's in 2/2005 when restrictions were placed on him. Included on the Oakland diocese's list in 2019. On the Holy Name Province Domincans' list in 10/2021; noted to have died in 2014.

Forced at age 70 in 1982 to retire, seek treatment, and leave area to avoid prosecution for fondling eight girls over a 1 1/2 year period. Possibly as many as 100 victims, 1950s-1980s. In 1967 one girl disclosed abuse by Breen to a nun, who was her school principal; the nun is believed to have informed the Diocese. Vicar General Macchi stated in 1982 that he had first heard "rumors" about Msgr. Breen three years prior. Died 12/31/1986. Civil suit filed in the early 2000s. A new suit was filed 11/2010 claiming abuse in 1980-1981. Included on the Diocese's list in 2019. Another suit was filed in 10/2019.

Per 9/08 article, Brenkle was placed on leave in 2005 after a man complained that he had molested his 7th grade son in about 1995. Brenkle denied the allegation. He was investigated and exonerated by the diocese, then returned to ministry. Brenkle said he had a letter from the youth saying that nothing happened. Brenkle was chairman of the diocese's Lay Review Board.

Monsignor. Accused of abuse occurring 1954-1956. Died in 1983. One accuser, per the  Archdiocese in 2004.

Accused in a 4/2003 lawsuit of molesting an altar boy many times in the 1970s. Broderson was "forced into retirement" in 1991 and officially retired later. The Diocese knew of complaints against him in 1991. Became a marriage family therapist/licensed hypnotist in Richmond, CA. Settlements in 2003. Admitted to abuse. Laicized 3/21/2005. Six brothers sued in 2007. Case dismissed then reinstated in 2/2009 by an appeals court. Dismissed by the CA Supreme Court 3/29/2012. Broderson died 9/19/2010. Included on the Diocese's list in 2019.

Bishop of Boise City ID 1989-1998; Bishop of Orange CA 1998-2012. Retired. A man came forward in early 2007 to allege abuse by Baker in Bakersfield in 1965 when he was approximately 12 years old. The man produced copies of correspondence to and from the Fresno diocese in 7/1997 about the alleged abuse. He also wrote to Cardinal Mahony in 2002. Brown admitted in a deposition in 9/2007 that he had been accused and that the church had investigated. He denied the abuse. Retirement announced in 9/2012.

A man sued in 2004 alleging he was abused by Bucaro at St. Matthew's Church in Corona and in San Diego in the 1980s. Suit names both dioceses, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and his former Order, the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. San Bernardino denied any record of past complaint of any kind. Bucaro had been working in prison ministry since 1983. He countersued for slander in 2005. Original suit settled in 2008. On San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/18.

Sued in 2003. Accused of abuse of a girl in 1972 at University High School. 'Retired' just about the time the allegations became public. Had been working in Reno, Nevada for years but was still part of San Bernardino diocese when he retired. Reportedly in 2006 he was "no longer in the ministry."

Accused of abuse occurring 1965-1975. Per Archdiocese in 2004 there were eight accusers. Lawsuit filed. As part of a 2007 $660M settlement with 508 plaintiffs, the Archdiocese was to release personnel files. Buckley's file was released in 1/2013. It shows that complaints about his morals were received from parents in the mid-1960s. Died 5/1/2007.

Accused of abuse between 1962 and 1984. Per The Archdiocese of Los Angeles's 2004 report there were three accusers. Named in a civil suit. Resigned in 1984 from a parish in the Diocese of Orange "because of the burden of administration." It was later revealed that he resigned because of abuse an allegation. Transferred to the Diocese of Baker, OR. A woman in California alleged he abused her son in 1989. Removed from ministry at some point. Retired to Arizona in 2002. Settlement in 2005 in Orange for $1,959,700. Status as of 8/2016 was "Life of Prayer and Penance." As of 6/2024, Buckman is deceased.

Burke admitted to his Jesuit superior in 2000 that he sexually abused a dependent adult man living/working at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, where Burke had been living since 1979. The Jesuits moved Burke but did not report the abuse to police. Criminally charged 5/9/2002; pled guilty. Sentenced 6/28/2002 to two years in prison at age 80. Claims against Burke and Br. Charles Leonard Connor SJ settled 6/4/2002 by the Jesuits for $7.5M. Died 2/27/2009. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes the sexual abuse of vulnerable adults 1990-2000.

Named publicly as accused by the Paulist order on its list 3/8/2019. It notes allegations reported in in 1986 and 2018 of abuse at Good Shepherd Parish in New York 1973-1979. Burt died 10/24/1994.

Extern priest from the Philippines. Alson known as Henry. Accused in a 1984 lawsuit, with six other priests, of the sexual abuse of girl, beginning when she was 16 years old in 1980­-1982. The girl became pregnant by one of the priests (not Cabaong). Cabaong is said to have helped secretly send the girl to the Philippines for the pregnancy and birth. The accused priests reportedly fled the country (with support from the Archdiocese) after the suit was filed. Cabaong resurfaced in Montana and was assigned in 7/1985 to a parish in Bozeman. He was incardinated in 1990 and died 8/17/1997. The claims resolved in a 2007 settlement.

Worked in CA, AZ, the Philippines and in the Archdiocese of Hermosillo in Guaymas, Sonora Mexico. Accused in 2002 of abusing two young girls, who were cousins, 1981-1985. The abuse of one of the girls began when she was age 4; Cabot had helped her family adopt her when she was an infant. Removed from public ministry in 2002. The cousins filed a civil suit in 2003. Settlement announced in 8/2006. Cabot "may be" the perpetrator in an 8/2008 civil suit. Plaintiffs uncertain. (See additional information in two suits filed in Fall 2009.) Personnel file released in 5/2012. Name included on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list 5/31/2019. On the Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/2019, where he worked 1956-1957. Died in 2019. Included in 8/2021 on the Fresno diocese's list of credibly accused.

Accused of abuse at St. Catherine of Siena in Martinez 1964-1965. Absent on sick leave 1987-1991. Removed from ministry/retired 6/30/1991. Named publicly in 2004 at one of the Diocese's apology services. Died 3/3/1996. Included on the Diocese's list in 2019.

Archdiocese received notice on 1/21/1975 that Caffoe sexually abused altar boys at his first parish. Faculty had been concerned during his seminary training at St. John's in Camarillo. File summaries indicate at least 15 victims. Accused in every parish, including St. Callistus in what later became the Orange diocese. Removed after his therapist reported to authorities on 5/8/1991. Treated at St. Luke's Institute 1991-1992. Laicized in 1/2006. Settlement 7/14/2007. Died in 2009. Personnel files released 1/2013.

Accused of abuse occurring 1971-1973. In 2004 the Los Angeles archdiocese counted one accuser. Added to the Stockton diocese's list in 11/2020, which notes that he was assigned to Sacred Heart in Patterson 1980-1982, Catholic Charities 1982-1986 and Central Catholic High School 1981-1986. Left the order in 2001. Included on the Vincentians list of credibly accused.

From the Archdiocese of Chihuahua, Mexico. Associate pastor of Our Lady of Grace in Encino CA. Placed on leave in 1/2018 pending an investigation by the Los Angeles Archdiocese and City Attorney after reports that Cano engaged in "inappropriate contact" with several women, including a minor, at his parish. The District Attorney declined prosecution. On Archdiocese's updated list of credibly accused 12/6/2018. Incidents alleged to have occurred 2014-2017. Removed from ministry. Reportedly six accusers. Canonical penal process pending as of 12/2018. Per the Los Angeles Archdiocese's list in 12/2021, Cano was on administrative leave. 

Accused of abusing 1963-1966. The Archdiocese counts two accusers in its 2004 report. Named in at least one civil suit. Retired in 1976. Died 5/31/1988. His personnel file proffer was released in 1/2013.

Also known as Laurian Carriere). Accused of abuse occurring 1978-1979. Two accusers, per the L.A. archdiocese in 2004. Its errata says only one accuser. At least one civil suit filed. Named in a 8/2006 settlement. Personnel file released in 5/2012. Included on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans List 7/23/2019. It notes the sexual abuse of a minor 1977-1979, reported in 2004 and 2006. Carrier died in 2000. Added to the Stockton diocese's list, where he worked 1982-1985 at St. Mary of the Assumption.

The Passionists announced in a letter on 3/7/19 that the Holy Cross Province had recently received an allegation that Carrillo sexually abused a female minor in the early 1970s. Removed from public ministry pending investigation. Carrillo was assigned to Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center in Sierra Madre 1970-75 and 1987-94.

From Ireland, ordained in Los Angeles. Assignments included St. Anselm's, St. Michael High School, St. Brendan, St. John the Baptist de la Salle, St. Luke the Evangelist, St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, then pastor of at St. Lorenzo Luis in Walnut. Also St. Mary Magdalen Blessed Junipero Serra, St. Maximilian Kolbe, and St. Julie Billiart. Sued in 2003. Accused in 1995 of abuse of teen girl 1968-1971 while assigned to St. Anselm's. Allegations deemed unfounded and Carroll remained in ministry. Died 5/27/2011.

A woman filed a police report in 2002 accusing Carter of sexually abusing her when she was an 8-year-old student at Notre Dame des Victoires School in the late 1970s. Carter was then a Marist brother. The archdiocese investigated, found the allegations inconclusive and allowed Carter to remain active. The woman filed a civil suit in 8/2002 and Carter was placed on leave. In 4/2008 the archdiocese allowed him to return to active ministry, saying again that the charges were inconclusive. Carter retired in 7/2021. In lawsuits filed under the CA Child Victims Act between 2020 and 2022, six other people - male and female - claimed abuse as children by Carter.

From Guayaquil, Ecuador. Named publicly as accused on the Los Angeles archdiocese's updated list 12/6/2018, which notes a report received in 2009 of incident(s) in 1976. Left the archdiocese in 1982. Name on the Monterey diocese's list 1/2/2019 (under the category of those not previously in the public domain.) The Diocese received a report in 2005 of abuse by Carvajal 1984-1985. Faculties removed.

Accused of abusing three minors 1974-1979, while assigned to Damien Boys High School in LaVerne. In 2004 the Archdiocese of Los Angeles counted three accusers. Named in at least one civil suit. Laicized, per the Archdiocese's list in 12/2021.

Accused of abuse 1944-1945 in at least one civil suit. The Los Angeles archdiocese counts one accuser in its 2004 report. Died in 2000, age 96. Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its updated list 12/6/2018. Allegations noted to have been received in 2010 of abuse in the 1960s. Casey died 3/24/1978.

Name sometimes spelled Casamino. Ordained for the Gallup diocese. Moved to the Diocese of Orange in 1976, on loan from Gallup. Navy Chaplain 1980-2000. Accused in 2004 of abuse of the sexual abuse of two brothers while in Orange. Was principal of St. Bernard High School in Uncasville, CT in 2004 when the allegations were made. The Diocese of Orange paid the brothers $4.2M in a 2005 settlement. Died in 2005. Included on the Norwich diocese's list 2/22/2019. On the Gallup diocese's list in 12/2018.

Given name Berthold Rudolph Casper. Teacher, parish priest. Missionary in Colombia, South America, then assigned in MI, MD, and CA. Faculties withdrawn and left the diocese in 1986. Per his order, Casper semi-retired in 1986 to its community in Chilton, WI.  Named publicly as accused by the Sacramento Diocese on its list 4/30/2019, which notes an allegation received in 1986 of the sexual abuse of a boy in 1962. Died 5/10/1998.

From Mexico City. Ordained in 1981 for the Society of the Divine Word, assigned in Los Angeles, CA. Transferred in 1988 to the Diocese of San Bernardino. Removed from Our Lady of Guadalupe in Ontario CA in 6/2010 after allegations that he abused two brothers within the previous two years. The Review Board found the allegations credible in 9/2010. Subject of a prior complaint involving two adults and one youth; no arrests due to the statute of limitations. Arrested 10/25/2010. Pleaded guilty in 4/2011 to a lewd act with a minor. Sentenced 8/31/2011 to a year in jail and sex offender registration. Released 4/21/2012; re-arrested 5/9/2012 for probation violation; released. Two lawsuits filed 9/22/2011 settled in 2/2014 for $3.8M. Third suit filed in 2012. On the San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/2018. Included on the Divine Word Missionaries' Western Province list in 2021; noted to have left the order in 2010.

From Costa Rica. Arrived in the U.S. in 2008. Assignments included parishes in Oakley and Fremont. Teacher at St. Junipero Serra Catechetical Institute and academic dean of Escuela de Ministerios Pastorales. Director of the Diocesan Dept. of Faith Formation and Evangelization and episcopal master of ceremonies. Castillo was informed on 1/30/2019 that he had been placed on leave during an investigation of sexual misconduct toward a minor. Leave publicly announced in a 1/31/2019 press release; police were notified of the allegation 5 hours later. Fled the country. Denied the allegation. Wrote a letter to to other Oakland priests saying the situation was a "misunderstanding" and that he was "not strong enough" to prove his innocence. THe Diocese filed a missing persons report 2/22/2019. In 12/2022 the Diocese claimed to have had no contact with Castillo and to not know where his whereabouts. The police said there were actually two possible victims, abused between 2011 and 2014.

Named publicly as accused by the Franciscans' Santa Barbara Province on its list 5/31/2019. Allegation received in 2004 of the sexual abuse of a minor 1962-1965. Worked in Spokane WA 1961-1964. On the Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/2019 (misspelled Cavagaro), where he worked 1971-1973 and 1989-1990. Added to the Gallup diocese's list in 8/2019; assigned there 9/1/1978-5/1984. On the Phoenix diocese's list, where he worked in 1985. Also included on the Diocese of Tucson's list of credibly accused; there 2002-2005 and 2006-2007. Assigned to Casa Franciscana, Guaymas, Sonora in the Diocese of Ciudad Obregon Mexico 1990-2002. Cavagnaro died 3/14/2011.

"Fr. Vic." Accused of abuse occurring 1966-1968. Per the Archdiocese in 2004, there was one accuser. Named in at least one civil suit. Died in 2016 in Benicia, CA.

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its list in 12/2021. Retired, no faculties.

From Mexico. Accused in 6/2008 of abusing three boys in San Diego in the 1980s. Placed on leave by the San Francisco archdiocese, where he worked for 11 years in the Metropolitan Tribunal. Chavarin denied the allegations when confronted, then fled to Mexico. Name added to San Diego diocese's list in 9/2018.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Fresno diocese on its list in 8/2021. Per his obituary, Chavez was placed on permanent medical leave of absence in 2017. He died in 2020.

Accused in a lawsuit settled in late 2020 for $3.5M of sexually abusing an altar boy at St. Peter Martyr in Pittsburg CA, beginning when the boy was age 10 in 2003 and continuing for over ten years. The plaintiff's attorney said that Chavez had been accused of molesting minors in the 1990s while pastor of St. Leander in San Leandro, and that the Diocese did not investigate. Further, she said Chavez was allowed to continue in active ministry for months after it received the new allegations in 10/2019. In 2019 Chavez's accuser, a former seminarian, alleged rape several years prior by Rev. Michael Van Dinh, and abuse as a seminarian in OR by Rev. Luis Lopez.

Name quietly added, along with 23 others, to the Los Angeles archdiocese's Final Addendum posted on its website 1/31/2013. Accused in lawsuit settled in 3/2015 of abusing a boy at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino CA, 1984-1986. Plaintiff said Chong would sexually abuse him after football practice in Chong's living quarters, sometimes plying him with alcohol. Also worked in the dioceses and archdioceses of Cleveland, Washington DC, Chicago. He was assigned 1997-2014 to a Carmelite Chapel at a Boston area mall. Died 10/21/2014. Included on the Carmelites' list 11/22/202. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Accused of forcing a boy at ages 12 and 15 to perform oral sex during the 1970s in Canada. Criminal charges were filed in 1990. Lived in a Franciscan retirement home in Santa Barbara CA for many years. Retired. Reportedly in 2005, was living at Wounded Brothers (RECON), a Franklin County, MO home for troubled priests. Included on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans' list 5/31/2019. It notes the sexual abuse of a minor in 1973 reported in 1990, and that Chumik was living in an 'elder care facility' in MO since 2004. Included in 8/2021 on the Fresno diocese's list of credibly accused.

Minor seminary faculty member in OR and CA 1958-1970. Parish priest. Assigned 1970-1981 to a medical dispensary in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico in the Diocese of Ciudad Obregon. Treated at Servants of the Paraclete center 1981-1982. Admitted to mental health professionals to sexually abusing hundreds of boys. Accused in 1993 of abuse of boys at St. Anthony Minor seminary in Santa Barbara. Per the L.A. archdiocese, there were 12 accusers claiming abuse 1962-1969. One former St. Anthony's student said he reported attempted rape by Cimmarrusti to the seminary rector in 1965 and was expelled. Cimmarrusti is said to have required students to submit to his "examining" their genitalia for proper development, and hernia checks. He used embarrassment, humiliation and threats. His accusers describe violent spankings during which Cimmarrusti was clearly sexually aroused, after which he would pray for his victims while pressing their faces into his groin. They said he would then threaten them with eternal damnation. Named in a 2003 civil suit. Civil settlements in 3/2006.  Last known address was San Damiano Retreat House in Danville CA. Personnel file released in 5/2012. Died 11/23/2013. On Oakland diocese's list in 2019. On the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list 5/31/2019. It notes allegations of the sexual abuse of minors 1962-1969 reported in 1993 and 2004. On the Diocese of Stockton's 12/2020 list, where he worked 1982-1985.

Arrested and convicted in 1963 on felony charge of oral copulation with a 19-year-old man in Santa Cruz. Given probation. Transferred to Corpus Christi parish in Fremont in 1965, where he allegedly abused "numerous" children. Retired 4/29/84. Two brothers filed suit in 12/03 alleging abuse by Clark 1968-1972. Third plaintiff filed separate suit. Clark died 7/27/89. At least one claim included as part of a $56.4M payout to 56 childhood sexual abuse survivors in 8/05.

Correct spelling of first name is believed to be Didacus. Assigned to St. Mary's High School in approximately 1964. Name first publicly shown on list of claimed abusers attached to Stockton Diocese's 5/9/2014 filing in bankruptcy court. Still active as of 2012-2013. Included on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list 5/31/2019. It notes "substantial contrary evidence; unable to corroborate allegation."

Ordained for the Diocese of Portland, ME. Accused in lawsuits of sexually abusing four boys at Star of the Sea in San Francisco late 1940s-1957. Became a priest of the Oakland diocese when it was created in 1962. Removed/retired 12/31/1980. Died 4/9/2003. Included on the Oakland diocese's list in 2019, abuse noted to have occurred in the 1950s-1960s. On the Stockton diocese's list, which notes he was a supply priest in approximately the mid-1980s, and that his faculties were revoked there 12/20/1990.

From Ireland. Incardinated into Sacramento diocese in 1953. Monsignor. Retired in 1994. Died in 2010. Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list 4/30/2019. Accused in 2002 of inappropriately kissing a 10-year-old girl in 1972.

Accused in 5/2002 of abusing a boy at Dolores Mission in Los Angeles 1960-1962. Named in a civil suit filed in 12/2003. After the civil suit was filed a second accuser alleged abuse as a boy at Dolores Mission. Coffield was assigned to Dolores Mission 1955-1961. The Los Angeles report in 2004 notes that Coffield molested in the Diocese of Orange 1959-1960. He died 2/2/2005 in California.

Named publicly as accused on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list 5/31/2019. It notes sexual abuse of a minor in 1955, reported in 2010. Colloty died in 1976. Included on the Oakland diocese's list 6/1/2019.

Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits West Province on its list 12/7/2018. It notes sexual abuse of a minor 1957-1959, reported in 1993. On Los Angeles archdiocese list 12/18/1208. Report in 2016 of an incident in 1978. Taught at Jesuit high schools in San Jose CA, Phoenix AZ, Santa Barbara CA, and Los Angeles CA. Did some parish work as well, including many years at St. Leander in San Leandro, per his obituary. Lived at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos 1994 until his death 4/26/2006.

Named publicly as accused by the Monterey diocese on its list 1/2/2019, which notes a report received in 2003 of abuse in 1959. Condon died 7/29/1983.

Allegations were received by the Jesuits in 1995 and 1997 that Connor and Fr. Edward Burke were abusing two intellectually disabled adult men living/working at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos. Connor admitted to inappropriate touching; he was restricted, but the abuse was not reported to police. The case was reopened in 2000; a search warrant revealed documents showing that the abuse may have lasted 1970-2000. Connor was sent to live at at the all-boys Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. He pleaded no contest in 2001 and served six months' home detention. The victims received a $7.5M settlement 9/4/2002. Connor was returned to Sacred Heart Jesuit Center. He was accused in 2002 of abusing Jesuit Fr. James Chevedden in 1998; Chevedden struggled with mental illness and was confined to a wheelchair. The complaint was deemed unproven by Jesuit Provincial Fr. Tom Smolich. Chevedden's psychiatrist, Dr. George Maloof, said he had "no doubt that Fr. Chevedden was accurate in what he described" and that the Jesuits were more concerned about keeping the allegation quiet than in supporting Chevedden. Chevedden died in 2004 in a fall from a courthouse parking garage; the death was ruled a suicide. He had been driven to jury duty by credibly accused Jesuit and Sacred Heart resident Fr. Jerald Lindner. Chevedden's family received a $1.6M settlement from the Jesuits. Connor died 7/11/2011. His name is included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018.

From Ireland. Ordained for the Sacramento diocese. Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list 4/30/2019. Accused in 1997 of "nudity in the presence of minors and attempted sexual touching" of a boy. Faculties withdrawn in 1997.

Monsignor. Named publicly by the Archdiocese on its updated list 12/6/2018. Allegations reported in 2010 of incidents in 1974 or 1975. Cook died in 1984.

Named publicly as accused by the Oakland diocese on its list in 2019. Ordained for the Conception Abbey Benedictines in MO. Worked in at Mount Marty College in Sioux Falls, SD 1970-1972, Archbishop Rummel High School in Metarie, LA 1973-1975. Incardinated into the Oakland diocese 10/1/1976, where he was assigned to parishes in Oakland, Richmond and Concord. Abuse noted to have occurred in 1978. Removed from ministry in 1995. Given a life of prayer and penance.

Approximately age 42 when ordained in 1/2011. Arrested 5/9/2014 on charges of statutory rape and oral copulation of a 16-year-old, girl beginning in 2013, while assigned to St. James in Davis. Released on bond 5/10/2014. Removed without privileges pending further investigation by police. Arraigned 6/10/2014 on three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and a misdemeanor charge of oral copulation with a person younger than 18. Pleaded guilty under agreement with DA to one count of sexual intercourse with the girl. Sentenced 8/29/2014 to 90 days in jail, three years probation and sexual offender counseling. Forbidden to contact the girl until she turned 18. Girl said during hearing that the sex was consensual and that she did not want the matter prosecuted. Laicized in 12/2014. Was facing deportation to Mexico in 2015. Felony reduced to misdemeanor and dismissed in 12/2017. On diocese's list 4/30/2019.

Accused in a lawsuit sometime between 2020-2022 of the sexual abuse of a minor. Plaintiff claimed Corley sexually assaulted him twice at age 7 in 1977 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Windsor. Died of AIDS in 1990. Per his obituary, Corley was assigned to St. Eugene's 1966-67, St. Bernard's in Eureka 1967-71, Holy Spirit in Santa Rosa 1971-74. He was pastor of St. Anthony's in Mendocino 1974-77, administrator of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Windsor (1977-83) and pastor until 1989 of Our Lady, Queen of Peace in Clearlake.

Arrested in 4/2009 for sexual assault and providing alcohol to 16-year-old boy, as well as child porn possession. Removed from assignment at St. Mary of Nativity in Salinas. Pleaded no contest in 3/2011 to 14 counts. Sentenced to one year in jail and probation. Released in 12/2012. Warrant issued when failed to register as a sex offender. Fled to his home state of Jalisco, Mexico. Civil suit filed 7/11/2011. Settlement with the Diocese in 3/2013. Court struck Cortes original answer in 6/2013; plaintiff to seek default judgment. On diocese's list 1/2/2019; noted to have been laicized.

Monsignor. Accused of abuse occurring 1979-1980. Died in 1989. In 2004 the Los Angeles Archdiocese counted one accuser. Named in at least one civil suit.

From Ireland. Accused in a 2003 lawsuit of sexually abusing a teenage girl while assigned to St. Joseph's in Pomona 1963-1964. The abuse was reported to the Archdiocese in 1975, after which the Archdiocese recommended he retire. In 2004 the Archdiocese counted two accusers, of abuse 1963-1964.

Accused of abuse occurring 1970-1973. In 2004 the Archdiocese counted one accuser. Named in at least one civil suit. Suspended from ministry in 1994 after he married.

Ordained for the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in CT. Assigned in Detroit MI, Pittsburgh PA, Lake Charles LA, Tucson AZ, and Riverside CA. Incardinated into the San Bernardino diocese in 1981. Resigned in 1983 as the first financial director of the diocese after he loaned $225K of diocesan money to a man who had been convicted of fraud. Arrested twice, in 1987 and 1988, for public sexual misconduct. Covas left his parish in 4/2002 amid allegations of sexual misconduct with minors. Allegations came to light after an internal diocesan review of files. Civil suits were filed in 2003. Covas died 5/9/2004. His personnel file was released 10/25/2010. Included on the San Diego diocese's list of accused.

From Ireland. Arrived in San Diego in 1947, assigned to Mary Star of the Sea. Died in 1964. Creaton's personnel file was among documents released in 2010 concerning priests of the diocese accused of child sexual abuse. The release was ordered by a judge in 8/08, as part of a large settlement.

Accused of abuse occurring 1965-1971. Deceased. In 2004 the Archdiocese counted one accuser.

Chancellor and/or vicar general at various times 1979-1994. Accused in a 2005 lawsuit of molesting a boy in 1975 while pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary in Union City. He denied all charges. The Diocesan Review Board found "insufficient evidence" to support allegations. Diocese paid plaintiff $600K as part of global settlement in 8/2005. Crespin admitted not reporting incidents of abuse involving other priests. Privileges as a retired priest were restored in 6/2005. A lawsuit in 12/2019 under the CA Child Victims Act by two men claims the Diocese covered-up  abuse by Crespin and Rev. Stephen Kiesle at Our Lady of the Rosary in the 1970s. The man accusing Crespin said the abuse started when he was age 11, and that the priest also abused his best friend, who had recently died by suicide. Crespin died 4/7/2024.

Ordained for the Jesuits. Assigned briefly to parishes in Monterey, Fresno, and Exeter. In Mexico 1952-1955, then worked at a parish in Oxnard CA for two years, after which he no longer appears in the Official Catholic Directory. Died in 1985. Crews' death notice identifies him as Rev. Edward Crews. Named publicly as accused by the Monterey Diocese on its list 1/2/2019, which notes a report in 2002 of abuse in 1954. 

Executive Director of Hanna Boys Center in Sebastopol beginning 1984. Resigned 2/6/13 after report of an inappropriate relationship with a minor male 1971-75. Prior to Hanna Boys Center, Crews was assigned to St. Sebastian's in Sebastopol and St. Joseph's in Cotati. Alleged victim is deceased; matter reported by his widow to Sheriff's office prior to notification to diocese. On diocese's list 1/12/19. It notes "no assignment" and that he retired in 2013. In 4/17 two men stated publicly that Crews sexually abused them when they were teenage Hanna Boys Center residents, one 1999-2001, the other 1984-1985. In 4/19 Crews was living in SC. Accused in new lawsuit(s) in 2022. Settlement in 2022 with a man who claimed abuse by Crews and other Hannah Center staff over three years, beginning when he was age 11.

From Ireland, where he was refused ordination. Arrived in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1972, ordained for the Archdiocese in 1973. Sued in 2003, accused of abuse between 1972-1980, while assigned to St. Genevieve in Panorama City and St. Monica in Santa Monica. In 2004 the Archdiocese counted two accusers. His personnel file released in 1/2013 reveals he provided liquor to an underage teen he was counseling, asked the boy sexual questions, and took him to see a movie with homosexual sex scenes. On administrative leave 2004-2011. Laicized 1/26/2011.

Monsignor. Died in 1972. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Diocese of Fresno on its list in 8/2021.

From Ireland. Ordained for the Diocese of Sacramento. Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list 5/22/2019. Allegation in 1988 of the sexual abuse, possibly between 1965 and 1985, of a girl under age 14. Faculties removed in 1988.

Former Combonian Missionary. Incardinated into the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2006. Arrested in 7/2012 after two women and a 17-year-old girl complained that he had sexually assaulted them. Arrest took place in Mexico; he was immediately extradited to Los Angeles. Charged with 8 misdemeanors plus one felony count involving lewd acts with a child. Removed from St. Athanasius parish. Archdiocese said allegations appeared credible. Pleaded no contest. Sentenced in 1/2013 to 5 years' probation, community service, sex offender counseling and to register as sex offender. Ordered by the Vatican in 2018 to a life of prayer and penance. Reportedly there were at least 16 other sexual battery allegations against Cuevas, but no prosecution due to the statute of limitations. Name included on  the Archdiocese's list updated 12/6/2018.

Prior to ordination Cunha was a teacher in the Fremont CA school system. Arrested in 6/1986 in Novato CA after a  waitress in a restaurant reported suspicious behavior involving a man and a boy, age 11. Cunha was in his first assignment after ordination. Pleaded guilty to molesting two boys. Sentenced to 60 days in jail and 4 months at a counseling center. At least three civil suits were been filed claiming abuse by Cunha of boys in 1986. One suit settled for $640K. May have left the priesthood.

Removed from his parish in 3/2004, no explanation. Sent to another by Cardinal Mahony. Had been an outspoken critic of Mahony's handling of sex abuse cases. Removed in 2006 from active ministry. Included on a list of credibly accused quietly posted on the archdiocesan website in 1/2013. Per a 5/7/2015 lawsuit, abused a boy, age 12 or 13, in 2001-2002. The suit claims Cunningham often had boys with him in his living quarters. Settled in 1/2019. Cunningham denied all allegations. The Archdiocese allegedly knew of Cunningham's behavior with boys as early as 1994. Accused in a 2017 suit of abuse of four boys, ages 10-15, in the mid-1990s - early 2000s at three parishes; the suit claims reports were made to superiors in each case, to no avail. Found in 11/2017 to be a psychologist with youth a counseling specialty in RI. Arrested in 4/2021 in RI, charged with the sexual assault in the 1990s-early 2000s of four Los Angeles boys, ages 10-12. Pleaded not guilty 4/30/2021.

Alleged in a lawsuit to have sexually abused a girl at St. Gregory Parish in San Mateo 1960-1963. Last known address was in Menlo Park.

A man filed a 2004 amended pleading in his civil suit against Fr. Matthew Kelly alleging that at least 31 clergymen abused youths in Santa Barbara, CA and at St. Anthony's Seminary. Pleadings name da Silva as the first Santa Barbara perpetrator of child sexual assault and says that he abused an altar boy in 1936-1937 at the seminary. The source cited is a statement by the alleged victim. Fr. da Silva died in 1967. Included on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list 5/31/2019. On the Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/2019, where he worked 1957-1964. (Name misspelled de Silva). Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

 In 1959 a 9th grade boy at Salesian High School in Richmond CA reported to Dabbene's superior that Dabbene had molested him twice. Dabenne was then a lay brother and a teacher at the school. Dabbene then "left [the boy] alone" and  went on to become principal at Salesian schools, and an official with the San Francisco archdiocese. In 1971 allegations were reported to the Diocese of Oakland (formerly part of the SF archdiocese). In 11/2000 Dabbene was arrested after he was found in a car with 17-year-old boy, both with their pants unzipped. Found guilty. Sentenced to three years probation and community service. Sent to St. John Vianney in Philadelphia for treatment. Named in a 2003 civil suit which alleged he was part of a ring of child molesters at Salesian High School 1969-1973. Lived at the Salesian provincial headquarters for years. Died 9/9/2010. Included on the Oakland diocese's list in 2019.

Ordained in 1955 for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Leave of Absence from the Archdiocese in 1965. Accepted the same year into the Novitiate of the Padres Benedictines Order in Morelia, Mexico. Many sporatic assignments and leaves. Accused in 2002 of abuse of a boy 1957-1963. Excardinated from the L.A. Archdiocese in 1976. Apparently remained active in the Diocese of Orange as well as in Baja and other remote places. The L.A. Archdiocese Report in 2004 notes six accusers. Named in at least one civil suit which settled in 2006. Died 4/8/2000, per personnel file released by L.A. archdiocese in 1/2013.

From Ireland. Arrived in the San Diego diocese in 1958. Accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy at St. Joseph's in Holtville in 1977. He allegedly picked up the boy and a friend, who were hitchhiking, offered them a place to stay then orally copulated the boy during the night. The boys ran off and went to the police that night. Daly was arrested. Case was dropped after bishop visited the D.A. Diocese moved Daly out of the area. Had two prior arrests for sexual molestation in La Mesa and San Bernardino. Retired in 1987. Died 10/17/89. Civil suit filed in 2002. Moved several times by diocese. Case set for trial in 3/07 but dismissed by judge in 1/07. Name was NOT on list of abusive priests released by San Diego Diocese in 3/07. Personnel file released 10/25/10.

From Ireland. Monsignor. Ordained for the then Monterey-Los Angeles Diocese. Died 11/14/1966. Named publicly as accused on the Monterey diocese's list 1/2/2019, which notes a report in 2002 of abuse in 1958.

Damasco was a priest of the Nueva Segovia diocese in the Philippines. Associate pastor 9/1/80 to 1/1/82 in the San Diego diocese, which listed him on 3/30/07 as credibly accused. San Diego list states that he then 'left diocese to return to Philippines' but Official Catholic Directories 1983-1984 list him as Army reserve chaplain on active duty, though omitted from index. Reportedly stationed at Fort Hood in the Austin TX diocese. Directories 1980-1981 show that before San Diego he worked briefly in Jersey City at St Mary's in the Newark archdiocese. Died 9/1/88.

Associate pastor at Saints Peter and Paul parish in 2005 when accused in a lawsuit of child sex abuse. Denied the allegations. Claims may have been investigated in 2004 by the archdiocesan review board and deemed unsubstantiated, which corroborated the Salesians' findings that the claims were "unsubstantiated." Still active priest at same parish per website accessed 7/11/2011.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Fresno diocese on its list in 2021. Noted to have been assigned to St. Alphonsus in Fresno 1936-1938. He died 3/27/1955 in his native St. Louis. (His name on Fresno list misspelled "Darmaddy.")

Placed on sick leave in 1993 after allegations. Sent to the Servants of the Paraclete for treatment. On inactive leave in 1995. Accused of abuse of at least 10 in 1970s-1980s. Supported by the Archdiocese for many years; never reported to police. Named in at least one lawsuit. Personnel file released in 1/2013 as part of a 2007 $660M settlement with 508 plaintiffs.

First named publicly as accused on the Diocese of San Bernardino's list 10/9/18. Order and diocese learned of allegations in 8/94, of abuse occurring 1975-85. Assigned to Notre Dame High 1958-68, Our Lady of the Valley in Hemet 1976-78. Left the San Bernardino diocese in 1978. Died 6/24/96.

Accused in a 2003 lawsuit of sexually abusing a minor 1980-1982. Died in 1998. The Archdiocese said it investigated and deemed the allegations unfounded.

Per news in 1/2004, Delahunty had just been placed on leave pending the investigation of an allegation that he sexually molested a boy in 1981. Civil suit filed. Delahunty denied the allegation. His accuser said he notified an administrator at the time of the abuse. Delahunty's name appears on a list released by the Diocese of Orange of six priests accused in 2003 of the sexual abuse of minors. The lawsuit settled in 2005. Returned to ministry in 11/2004 after the Diocese's review board found "no credible evidence" against him. Retired in 2016.

From Mexico, where he attended the Seminario Diocesano del Senor in Jalisco, Archdiocese of Guadalajara. Ordained for the Diocese of Sacramento CA in 1982. Allegations in 5/2006 of the assault of a 15-year-old boy 1983-1985. Placed on leave. Diocese said there was a "semblance of truth" which warranted further investigation. Abuse was alleged to have occurred at St. Joseph's in Rio Vista and at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento. Same accuser filed civil suit 3/2009. Name included on the Diocese's list 4/30/2019. Permanently removed from ministry in 2006. Sentenced by the Holy See to a life of prayer and penance.

Assigned briefly after ordination to St. Genevieve's in Van Nuys, then to St. Andrew's in Pasadena 1960-1965, and to Ss. Peter and Paul in Wilmington 1965-1968. Absent on Leave 1968-1969, then reassigned. Per the Official Catholic Directory DeLisle was at St. Linus in Norwalk 1969-1970, St. Athanasius in Long Beach 1970-1975, St. Didacus in Sylmar 1975-1978 and Our Lady of Grace in Encino 1978-1979. Absent on Leave again beginning in 1979. Accused of the abuse of two minors between 1967 and 1977. Deceased, per the 2004 Archdiocese list. However, in 6/2010 a reader notified BishopAccountability that DeLisle was alive and living in Twentynine Palms, CA.

From Ireland. Accused of 'affairs' with three women he counseled. They won a $1.4 million judgment against him in 1992, but not against the Diocese; another woman won a $3 million judgment against him but not the Diocese. In 1993 the women sued in attempt to recover damages from the Church insurance policy; dismissed by a California Superior Court judge who said that abuse was not covered. Dermody's name is included on the Diocese's list 4/30/2019 of those credibly accused of the sexual abuse of minors. It notes a report in 1989 of abuse of a woman, ages 18-25. Faculties withdrawn. Dermody died in Ireland in 2006. Brother of accused priest Thomas Dermody.

From Ireland. Ordained for the Diocese of Sacramento. Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list 4/30/2019. Reports to the Diocese in 1992 by two separate women of abuse as minors, occurring 1973-1985. Dermody left the Sacramento diocese in 1992 and was assigned to prison ministry elsewhere. Retired, faculties withdrawn in 2002. Died in 2017. Brother of accused priest Michael Dermody.

Accused in a lawsuit of abusing a minor 1968-1970. Included on the Los Angeles archdiocese's list. Died 9/26/1976. Per his obituary, Devaney was assigned to parishes in Norfolk, VA, Los Angeles CA and Clarement MS.

Priest of the Newark NJ archdiocese, ordained in 1956. He worked in a number of archdiocesan parishes and schools, and was a hospital and youth detention center chaplain. He then spent more than a decade as an instructor at Oratory School in Summit NJ. In 1977 Di Peri was sent to Canoga Park CA for "health" reasons, where he worked at Marianist-run Chaminade Preparatory High School. He appears to have returned to NJ after a year, where he again taught at Oratory, and then at a high school in Englewood NJ. His whereabouts after 1986 are unclear. In September 2002 Los Angeles police received a report that Di Peri molested a male Chaminade student during 1977-1978. The Newark archdiocese removed his privileges in 2003. By 2005 Di Peri was on the archdiocese's "permanent monitoring system" and was living in a Trenton diocese retirement home. He died in 2007.

Publicly named as accused on the Los Angeles archdiocese's updated list 12/6/2018. Allegations received in 2016 of incidents 1965-1974. Diamond died 9/11/1982.

Assigned to St. Catherine's in Dinuba when placed on leave in 5/2019 during an investigation of allegations of the sexual abuse of minors. The Diocese was informed by law enforcement.

Accused in a 5/21/2002 letter to the Archdiocese of fondling a boy in 1990-1991, while assigned to Queen of Angels Junior Seminary. Dober denied the allegation and on 10/9/2002 the archdiocesan review board deemed it unfounded. The complainant filed suit in 2003 and was included in the global $60M settlement in 12/2006 with 44 others. Beginning in 1976, Dober was a reserve chaplain in the U.S. Air Force. Pastor of St. John of God in Norwalk, CA 2007 until his retirement in 2016.

Accused in a lawsuit[s] filed in CA sometime between 2020-2022 of the sexual abuse of a minor[s]. (Name misspelled Dodson). Dodgson was a Philadelphia priest until his transfer in 1958 to Fresno CA. News accounts show that he was arrested in 1955 for fraud, having taken money from two men with the false promise of buying them cars. He was a heavy race-track gambler. Dodgson resurfaced as an active priest in 1958 in the Diocese of Monterey-Fresno. He transferred in 1965 to the Diocese of Boise, where he spent the remainder of his priesthood. Dodgson died in 1998.

Monsignor. Longtime archdiocesan director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Per his obituary, Dolan pioneered the Catholic Boy Scouts and summer camp programs, and was the archdiocesan Catholic Youth Organization director. Accused of abuse of a minor in 1962. Died in 1974. Named in a civil suit.

"Jesse." From Chihuahua, Mexico. Worked in the San Bernardino diocese 1983-93. Placed on leave. Pleaded no contest in 2001 to misdemeanor child molestation. Laicized in 2000. (Initially included on the L.A. archdiocese's list of accused, later shown to have been a mistake.) Charged in 2005 with abusing two boys in 1988-1989. Fled to Mexico before he could be arrested. Six men filed civil suits. Accused in a 2015 lawsuit of abusing a boy in a San Antonio TX orphanage 1980-1983, while a seminary student. Name included on San Bernardino diocese's list 10/9/2018. It shows that the diocese was aware in 1988 of abuse occurring in 1983 and 1988. 

Donat worked in San Diego Diocese 1966-69. In 1969-93 he taught at Aquinas High School in San Bernardino. After leaving Aquinas, he was pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Montclair until 2006. Diocese first learned in 12/10 that Donat allegedly abused a student at Aquinas in 1973. At least 4-5 other accusers have contacted attorneys claiming abuse. Privileges removed in 8/11 after review board found allegations credible. Sentenced by Vatican to Prayer and Penance. On diocese's list 10/9/18.

First named publicly as accused on diocese's list 10/18/2018. Allegation in 2002 that Dondero sexually abused a child in the 1960s, while at St. Joseph's. Dondero died 6/28/1997. Included on the Jesuits West Province's list 12/7/2018. It notes sexual abuse of a minor 1961-1965, reported in 2003 and 2005. On the Stockton diocese's list, which notes he was at St. Frances of Rome in Riverbank 8/30/1986-9/14/1986.

Accused in a 2003 civil suit of molesting a boy beginning in 1978 at St. Clement, and of later passing him on to an abusive Holy Cross brother, Lawrence O'Brien. During this same time period, Donovan was being treated for alcoholism at two treatment centers. He served as Superintendent of Schools 1963-1972. Removed from ministry/retired in 1983. Died 9/12/1986. Included on the Diocese's list of credibly accused in 2019, which notes abuse having occurred 1978-1980.

Named publicly as accused by the Los Angeles archdiocese on its list updated 12/6/2018. It notes an allegation received in 2014 of incidents 1972-1977. Allegations were reportedly of the sexual abuse of a minor female at the Catholic Information Center in L.A. He worked in L.A. 1965-1974. Assigned to the Paulist Center in Boston 1961-1962. Removed from ministry in 2014, living at a Paulist residence in San Francisco; still there in 2019. On the Paulists' list 3/8/2019. Included in the Memphis diocese's report 2/28/2020. Dove died in 10/2020. Included in 10/2022 on the Chicago archdiocese's list, where he was assigned 1985-1992. Included in the IL Attorney General's Report 5/23/2023.

Accused in a 12/03 civil suit of abuse of a girl 1963-64. Not indexed in the Official Catholic Directory after 1982. Deceased.

Ordained for the Diocese of Savannah-Atlanta. On leave 1947-1951. Worked in the Sacramento diocese 1947-1981. Faculties withdrawn and dismissed from Sacramento diocese after a report in 1981 of child pornography. Three allegations of abuse of boys under age 14, occurring 1954-1981, were received by the Sacramento diocese in 2002, 2004 and 2019. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused in 4/2019. On the Atlanta archdiocese's list in 11/2020. Included in the GA PAC's Report 3/24/2023. It details six reports of abuse of children. One alleged abuse ages 7-12 beginning in 1940 in Savannah. The boy told his mother about the abuse when he was in 7th grade, and Dowling was moved to Atlanta. Report in 2019 of abuse in 1975 in CA of a boy, ages 11-12. Another child was allegedly molested in 1972, reported in 1981. Dowling retired to FL after law enforcement told the Diocese they would press charges if he stayed in the county. Another report was of abuse in 1975, another in 1954-1955, and another in 1983. Dowling died in 2000.

Accused in 12/11/03 suit of sexually abusing boy 1969-1972 starting at age 15. Diocese stated this was the only allegation. Was secretary to Bishop Charles F. Buddy 1955-1957. Worked as Navy chaplain 1957-1961. Was vice chancellor 1961-1968. Died 11/16/76. Personnel file released 10/25/10.

Entered the order in 1954 and made his final vows in 1961. Named publicly as credibly accused by the St. Barbara Province Franciscans on its list in 9/2020. Drum was accused in 1972 and left the order the same year. Retired to Kihei, Hawaii, where he died in 4/2010. Per his obituary, Drum was a retired typesetter for the State of California.

Per the Los Angeles diocese in 2005, DuFour was accused by one person of abuse occurring 1977-79, while assigned to Rancho San Antonio Boys Home in Chatsworth, CA. Named in a civil suit. Per social media in 2022, a Don Dufour, CSC was living in New York and in 2018 was pictured with children while visiting his alma mater, Holy Cross School, in New Orleans.

Report to L.A. police in 2001 that Duggan sexually abused a boy, age 12, in 1969 at St. Frances in Azusa, CA. Accused in 11/21/03 suit of abusing a boy 1963-67 at same parish. L.A. archdiocesan report on 2/17/04 counted 3 alleging abuse 1963-71, presumably the 2001 and 2003 complainants and one other. The 2001 complainant was included in $660M LA settlement on 7/14/07. Retired 1976; died 9/79. Personnel file "proffer" released 1/13.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Diocese of San Jose on its list updated 4/5/2019. It notes that Duggan was removed from public ministry by the San Francisco archdiocese in 2002 due to a recent report of "sexual misconduct with a child at St. Patrick School during the 1950s." Duggan retired in 1983 and died 3/30/2007.

One of several religious accused in 1993 of abuse of students at St. Anthony Seminary. Per a 2002 news article, Dunne was living with his Order at St. Mary's Basilica in Phoenix, serving as their treasurer, doing housework and without contact with children. As of 2007, he was living in a retreat house near Monterey CA, in failing health and with dementia. (See additional information in two petitions filed in Fall 2009.) Included on the Santa Rosa diocese's list 1/12/2019. It notes accusations in 2002 for abuse elsewhere in 1993. Died in 2010. On the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list 5/31/2019, which notes a report in 1993 of alleged sexual abuse of a minor 1970-1973. On the Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/2019 (misspelled Dunn), where he worked 1955-1961. On Phoenix diocese's list, no known allegations there. Included on the Tucson diocese's list of credibly accused.

Per the L.A. archdiocese's report in 2005, Duplessis (at times spelled Duplessius) was accused by one person of abuse occurring 1968-70, while assigned to Servite High School in Anaheim. Lawsuit filed. Reportedly died in 2018.

Durkin retired in 4/2002, just after the San Francisco D.A.'s office requested church records related to years of allegations of abuse. He was the subject of a "recent child molestation complaint" stemming from conduct that allegedly occurred more than 30 years prior. Received treatment at Southdown in Toronto in 2002. Died 4/18/2006.

Trappist monk from Worcester, MA. In 1969 allegedly began sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl, who was a student at Santa Catalina School in the Diocese of Monterey, and continuing off and on for 13 years. In 1995 the woman reached a $75K settlement with his superiors at St. Joseph's Abbey in MA. The woman sued the Monterey Diocese and school 12/2003 for failing to prevent the abuse. Accused in a 1999 lawsuit by a man of sexual abuse. Active priest until at least 2002.

Monsignor. A woman claimed in a 2003 lawsuit that she was raped by Msgr. Eagen in 1972 after he befriended her at Nazareth House (an orphanage run by the diocese). Eagen was assigned as parish priest at a nearby mission. Later became Chancellor of San Diego diocese. Died in 1997. Diocese said he had exemplary record and no previous allegations of misconduct. The woman also alleged prior abuse at orphanage by a nun and a handyman as well as later abuse by Fr. Robert Buchanan. Personnel file released 10/25/10.
