  Father Arthur Harrison Dies

Father Arthur R. Harrison, 76, retired priest of the Diocese of San Jose, died Nov. 29, at his home in Brookdale, California. Father Harrison was born Oct. 1, 1930 in San Francisco to Arthur Clark Harrison and Dorothy Agnes Creber. As a child, his family worshipped at St. Gabriel Parish and he attended St. Cecilia School, in San Francisco. After graduating from elementary school, he attended St. Joseph Seminary in Mountain View and then St. Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park for theological studies. Ordained a priest on June 16, 1956, Father Harrison was assigned as associate pastor to various parishes including St. Thomas Aquinas in Palo Alto, Our Lady of Loretto in Novato, St. Frances Cabrini in San Jose, and as chaplain at San Quentin Correctional Facility in Marin County. In the Diocese of San Jose, he served as pastor of St. Elizabeth Church in Milpitas and Church of the Ascension in Saratoga. He retired from active ministry in June 1992. Father Harrison is survived by his twin sister Donna Brown and his brother-in-law Roger Brown of Santa Rosa, two nephews, Michael and Larry, and three nieces, Eileen Lenderman, Leslie DeLong and Karen Horjus. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 4, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in San Jose.
