At least one claim included in a 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 62 plaintiffs and 28 priests. Laicized by Pope Benedict XVI 5/20/2005. Included on the Diocese's list in 2019. Said to have died in 10/2021.

A man reported to the Diocese in the early 2000s that when he was age 12 in the early 1970s Beaudet gave him alcohol, then sexually abused him, including rape. In 9/2004 a woman alleged Beaudet gave her alcohol and made her perform oral sex in 1972 when she was age 14. Beaudet was pastor at St. Albert's in West Stewartstown at the time of the alleged abuses. In 4/2005 the Diocese said it settled claims by a man and woman who said they were abused by Beaudet as children in the 1970s. Settlement amount not disclosed. Another woman came forward with allegations in 7/2005. Beaudet died in 1982. Included on the diocese's list 7/31/2019.

In 5/2002 three men alleged that Boisselle had sexually abused them at Ste. Marie Church in Manchester in the early 1960s. Per documents released by the Attorney General 3/2003, a college student had complained that Boisselle seduced him in 1983; there were complaints in 1995 or 1996 of youths at the rectory; the Diocese knew about Boisselle having encounters with adults at gay bars and parks. At least some claims were included in a 11/2002 settlement with the Diocese. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019, Boisselle (spelled Boiselle) was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. Died 11/1/2014.

Admitted to a short-term relationship with a male in the Philippines. First listed as retired in the 1986 Directory. Died 9/16/2000. On the Santa Fe archdiocese's list 9/12/2017. Lawsuits in Albuquerque by two men in 1/2018 claim abuse as boys by Bombardier. Accused in a 11/2018 suit of the sexual abuse beginning in 1967 of a boy, age 13, while teaching him to swim and during an overnight in a cabin in the Sandia Mountains. Included on the Manchester diocese's list 7/31/1209.

Fr. Albert L. Boulanger

Monsignor. The Diocese settled one case in 4/2005 for an undisclosed amount after a woman alleged that Boyd molested her over 25 times when she was ages 7-8 in 1957 at St. Joseph's School in Laconia. She said he would make her perform oral sex on him and would sometimes give her $1.50 after the abuse. Boyd died in 1968. Included on the diocese's list 7/31/2019.

Personnel file released in 3/2003 notes that the Diocese knew in 1974 about two other claims of abuse by Bulger. At least one claim was included in a 11/2002 settlement involving 28 priests. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019, Bulger was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. He died 11/19/2014.

Fr. Gerald F. Chalifour

The Diocese knew of at least one instance of sexual misconduct with a minor in 1969. Police were involved in a 1982 investigation after a report that Chalifour attempted to molest a boy in the 1960s. Retired in 1992 (after therapy) but continued to work part-time until 2002. Sued in 5/2002. The Diocese paid three men a total of $85,000 in 2003. At least one claim was included in a 11/2005 settlement involving 28 priests. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019, Chalifour was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. He died 1/16/2020.

Diocese denied coverup. At least one claim was included in a 11/2002 settlement involving multiple priests. Included on the Diocese's list 7/31/2019.

Police investigated Corriveau in 2003 for possession of internet pornography. At least one claim included in a 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 62 claims. Laicization announced in 6/2005. Fr. Joseph A. Cote

One of 14 active and retired priests named as abusers 2/2002 in the Manchester Diocese. Cote had been removed from public ministry in 4/2021 after admitting in 2/2021 to sexually abusing a 12-year-old altar boy 25-30 years prior. Cote's victim received a settlement in 8/2021. Named in the 2003 NH Attorney General Report. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/19, Cote was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. Deceased.

Fr. Roland P. Cote

In 4/02 a man accused Cote of sexually assaulting him as a teenager in the early 1980s. Cote admitted to a "sexual relationship" with the boy and to paying thim for sex, but said the boy was 18 at the time. Bishop reassigned Cote to a new parish in 6/02, but did not tell the new parish of accusations, or that there had been a financial settlement. Cote left the parish in 11/02 after a furor raised. Also admitted that he was sexually active in mid-1980s with a "couple of other people" who were about 18 years old.

Fr. Thomas F. Crowe

In 12/2002 the Manchester Diocese settled with six people claiming abuse by five priests, including Thomas Crowe. Crowe allegedly abused a 13-year-old boy 1949-1950 while assigned to Blessed Sacrament. The abuse was said to have included one incident of oral sex and many of kissing and grooming. Crowe died in 1958.

Named publicly as accused by the Legionaries in 8/15, of abusing two boys in the 1980s at the order's Immaculate Conception Apostolic School in Center Harbor. Accused in a lawsuit filed 8/17/17 of sexually abusing a boy repeatedly over a 3-year period, beginning when the boy was a 13-year-old student in 1984 at Immaculate Conception Apostolic School. The abuse allegedly included rape. The suit claims another boy was also abused. Plaintiff said he told Rev. Patrick O'Carroll at the time, who did nothing but tell him to pray "five rosaries for his sins." Included on the order's list 12/21/19, as "former member now laicized."

Br. Leon Cyr

A man came forward in 4/03 to allege that he was abused by Br. Cyr, a teacher at Bishop Guertin High School, in the early 1980s. Cyr denied the accusation. Attorney for Four plaintiffs filed a class action lawsuit against the school and the Order, alleging abuse. One man (not original complainant) alleged abuse by Cyr multiple times from 1981 to 1983. Suit still pending in 2004. Cyr died in 2021.

Fr. Robert J. Densmore

Three allegations against Densmore were received 1985-1993 and subsequently two more. He refused to attend inpatient treatment at St. Luke's in 1985 but did undergo outpatient counseling. Name appeared on the diocese's 2/2002 list of 14 accused priests which notes privileges removed. Sued in 4/2002. Included in a 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 28 priests and three others. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019, Densmore was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. The Diocese's list updated 9/11/2020 notes that Densmore is deceased.

Fr. Karl E. Dowd

Five allegations of abuse by Dowd were received shortly after his death in 2/2002. One man said he and his mother reported the abuse to a pastor in 1971. Nonetheless, Dowd was allowed to serve as director of Camp Fatima, a summer camp for children, from 1968 until he retired in 1990. Many priests have been accused of abuse at the camp. At least one claim against Dowd was included in 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 62 victims and 28 priests.

Fr. Patrick Dubreuil

A woman alleged in 1/2004 that Dubreuil sexually abused her at St. Anthony's parish in the mid-1970s when she was ages 13-16. In 5/2004 two sisters told the diocese that Dubreuil, then a deacon, had kissed and hugged them at St. Anthony's and St. Jean's parishes in mid-1970s. Dubreuil left the priesthood, married, and became a middle school teacher. No criminal charges were filed and all investigations were closed. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019, Dubreuil was laicized prior to the allegations against him.

Fr. Edouard J. Duval

Name also spelled Eduard. Included in the 3/2003 New Hampshire Attorney General's Report. Per his personnel file, there were complaints against Duval by parents of inappropriate behavior with boys since at least 1981 (the year he retired). In 2002 a woman alleged that he abused her son between 1979 and 1980 at St. Peter's in Farmington. Duval died in 1992.

Accused in a 2002 civil suit of sexually abusing three brothers in the early 1980s. Assaults were reported in 1983 and case went to AG's office; not prosecuted. Admitted to the abuse. Per diocese, Fleming was not defrocked but his right to minister was revoked. Sent to therapy for two years. Left priesthood in 1986. Diocese did not include him on list of accused priests released in 2/2002 because it was thought he had died in 1997. He was, however, alive. Said to have gone on to become a Unitarian minister in Charlestown NH. Included on the Diocese's list released in 7/2019. Laicized. Added to the St. Louis archdiocese's list in 8/2019, where he worked briefly after ordination.


Fr. Roger Armand Fortier

By 1984 Fortier had admitted to the Chancellor that he watched pornographic films and abused minor boys after plying them with alcohol. Arrested in 1997 for molesting two boys at the rectory in the mid-1990s. Also charged with possession of child porn. Convicted in 7/1998 and sentenced to 30-60 years in prison for abuse of two boys. Pleaded guilty in 11/1997 to attempted abuse of a third youth; received concurrent sentence of 5-10 years. Other victims came forward 2002-2003. Defrocked in 2005. Granted parole 7/6/2017, parole board citing his terminal cancer. Told to live with his sister on house arrest. Release pending parole officer's review of Fortier's living conditions. Laicized, per the diocese's list 7/31/2019. The list in 5/2024 shows Fortier as deceased.

Fr. Roger E. Fournier

Originally an Oblate of Mary; may have been incardinated into the Manchester diocese after 1959. A woman notified the diocese in 6/2005 that she had been sexually molested by Genereux for two years while a student at Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson in 1957-1958. She told the school in 1958; he was quickly removed. Shortly thereafter, he saw her at a party and deliberately broke her arm. Two other alleged victims are also known. Multiple short assignments 1959-1971. Died in 1971.

Fr. Paul E. Groleau

By 5/2002 two lawsuits had been filed that named "Grolleau" as an abuser. Both plaintiffs were boys at the time of the alleged abuse in the late 1960s-early 1970s. At least one claim was included in a 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 62 plaintiffs and 28 priests. As Diocesan Vocations Director in the 1970s, Groleau helped Gordon MacRae become a priest of the diocese, despite negative evaluations. (MacRae was later convicted of child sex abuse.) Groleau was laicized in 1989, prior to the reports against him of abuse. Included on the Diocese's list 7/31/2019.

Fr. Frederick L. Guthrie

Arrested in 11/2001 in NH and charged with soliciting sex from a minor over the internet. Had retired from the Boston archdiocese in 7/2001 and lived in MA. Also faced charges of possession of child pornography on his home computer in MA. In 3/2004 in NH Guthrie was sentenced to three months in jail and five years probation for attempting to solicit sex over the internet. Child pornography charges were pending in MA and he was to be extradited for trial. Voluntary laicization in 2010 announced 2/11/2011. Included on the Boston archdiocese's list of accused 8/25/2011. Guthrie died 7/2/2012.

Fr. James W. Haller

A woman told the diocese in 11/2002 that Haller had had an inappropriate relationship with her more than 20 years prior, when she was a minor. Haller admitted to the relationship, saying that he had loved the girl and wanted to leave the priesthood and marry her. Instead, he was unable to leave the priesthood and the relationship ended. Diocese said that the report was the "first and only" report about Haller. He resigned from his assignment. Not included in the 3/2003 Attorney General Report on the Manchester Diocese. Assigned to a life of prayer and penance, per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019.

Fr. Wilfred E. Houle

Houle left ministry in 1981 and died of AIDS in 1987. A man filed suit against the bishop and diocese in 3/2008, alleging that he was raped at age 16 by Houle in 1977, and that he contracted AIDS as a result. Criminal charges had been filed earlier and much investigation had taken place. The man's claims were included in an earlier settlement with the diocese; he said he was coerced into taking the settlement.

Fr. Alfred L. Jannetta

At least one claim was included in a 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 62 victims and 28 priests. Jannetta was shown as an active priest at that time. By 3/2003 he was "recently suspended" following allegations he molested boys in the 1970s. In 1989 he was known to frequent gay bars and to keep homosexual pornography in the rectory. He was preparing to go on a "gay cruise" when church officials intervened and sent him to counseling. Per the diocese's list 7/31/2019, Jannetta was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. He died in 12/2005. Settlement in the low six figures announced in 3/2024 of a claim that Jannetta sexually abused a boy, age 15 or 16 around 1973 and 1974, after plying the boy with alcohol and marijuana.

Fr. Gerald F. Joyal

One claim was included in a 10/2002 $950K settlement involving 16 men who alleged that 8 different priests, including Joyal, abused them as minors. At least one claim was included in both the 11/2002 $5M settlement claiming abuse by 28 priests and the 12/2002 $542.5K settlement claiming abuse by 5 priests. Joyal died in 1998, prior to all settlements.

Fr. Raymond H. Laferriere

'Retired' in 1995. Removed from part-time parish work in 2002. Named by the Diocese in 2002 as one of 14 abusers who had received treatment and were returned to work. Before ordination, seminary warned that he had "incipient schizophrenia with homosexual overtones." Per a 1963 complaint, he showed two boys pornography. No action taken. Other allegations were received after retirement. Named in a 3/2003 report by the AG's office. Three plaintiffs filed two civil suits in 2002. Given a life of prayer and penance, per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019. The list updated 5/5/2022 shows Laferriere to be deceased.

Fr. Conrad V. LaForest

Accused in 1990 of abuse of a boy, age 12-13. LaForest was reportedly involved sexually with adult men. He underwent multiple treatments for "alcoholism." His name appeared on a list of 14 accused priests released by the Diocese in 2/2002. He had been on sick leave since 1996 and then had been working part time since 1999. His privileges were removed in 2/2002. Reportedly he (and all the other priests on the list) had been sent for treatment and had been cleared to return to ministry. LaForest died in 2003.

Fr. Francis R. Lamothe

Ordained for the Diocese of Salt Lake. Transferred by the mid-1950s to the Diocese of Manchester. Died in 1995. At least 9 men filed suit in 2002 alleging abuse by Lamothe. Name was included on the Diocese's list in 2/2002 of 14 priests against whom there were credible allegations of sexual abuse. The plaintiff's attorney described LaMothe as a "groomer." At least one claim was included in a 11/2002 $5M settlement involving 62 alleged victims and 28 priests.

Diocese learned that Franciscans knew of allegation in 2002 but didn't tell the diocese. Ledoux was at parish 4/1986 to 9/1989. Worked as dean at Widener University for nine years until summer 2012, when officials learned of earlier accusation. He resigned rather than being placed on leave. Denied allegation. Also worked in Pittsburgh.

Fr. J. Edmond Lemire

On 10/10/2002 the Manchester diocese settled with 16 claimants. One of them, John Doe 12, alleged that Lemire, an extern from the Sherbrooke diocese in Quebec assigned to St. Edmund's parish in Manchester, abused him in the early 1960s. Lemire exploited a common interest in magic and stamp collecting and fondled the boy under his bathing suit during an outing. The NH A.G.'s audit documents revealed two allegations of abuse committed at St. Aloysius of Gonzaga parish in Nashua in the late 1950s. One boy was fondled twice at age 16. The other boy was forced to hold Lemire's penis and was 'abused many times.' He was later abused by Fr. Roland Veilette and (as an adult) by Fr. Karl E. Dowd. Lemire was deceased as of 2003.

Patricia A. Long

Holy Cross sister, took vows in 1969, worked at parishes and schools in New Bedford MA, W. Franklin, Gonic, Rochester, and Concord NH. In 2008 a woman reported to the diocese sexual assault by Long 1973-78, when the woman was ages 11-15. Diocese informed law enforcement. The abuse reportedly occurred in the rectory of St. John the Evangelist in Concord, where Long lived and led the parish's youth ministry program. Long is said to have babysat children of parishioners on weekends, and to have had her alleged victim stay with her at the rectory and sleep in her bed. Alleged victim confronted Long at age 21 in 1982, and said Long told her she thought she (the girl) was a lesbian, and wanted contact. Long left St. John's in 1986 and married Msgr. George Murray, who was St. John's pastor. She became a minister of the United Church of Christ in Marblehead MA, then in CT. Name later Rev. Patricia A. Dabbah.

Fr. Richard T. Lower

Accused of inappropriate sexual conduct with a young man in 1989. He denied that accusation, underwent a psychological evaluation, and was cleared to return to work. In 12/2002 another man alleged abuse by Lower as a minor in 1973 at St. Rose of Lima Parish. When advised of the new allegations and decision to place him on leave, Lower disappeared and was found dead along a hiking trail two days later. Likely suicide.

Fr. Joseph T. Maguire

Admitted to his superiors in the Manchester NH diocese in the 1970s to molesting a child. Sent for treatment and transferred to another parish, where he continued to abuse altar boys. Joined the Stigmatine order in 1981, living at their retreat center in Waltham MA. Abused in MA. Transferred to Ireland in 5/1986, after police in NH investigated accusations against him of child sexual abuse. Faculties withdrawn in 1994. Some claims were included in a 11/2002 settlement. Retired to Cape Cod, where he was arrested at his home in 2003 for allegations of child sexual abuse in NH. Pleaded guilty. Sentenced to at least 44 years in prison. Died in prison in 2/22/2005.

Per a document produced as part of the NH Attorney General's report 3/3/2003, McMullen was accused of molesting a girl in 1958 and a boy a short time later. McMullen was transferred to another parish after the boy's parents complained to the Diocese. McMullen died in his 40s in 1966.

Meehan was married for many years with grown children and grandchildren when he divorced and obtained an annulment of his marriage.  He attended seminary and in 1993 was ordained. During treatment in 2002 at St. Luke's Institute (for an eating disorder), he told a therapist of attraction to and past sexual behavior with 15- to 16-year-old boys. He acknowledged 2-3 incidents of being "overly affectionate" with boys. In 5/2002 the Diocese would not allow him to return to active priesthood and granted him early retirement. Per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019, Meehan was assigned to a life of prayer and penance. He died 3/26/2017.

Accused in 1/2003 of sexually abusing a boy, ages 12-14, in 1976-1977 at St. Michael's in Exeter. The alleged abuse included oral sex and penetration and occurred approximately 100 times. The same man also made allegations against another priest and a teacher. Memolo spent his career in NH except for two years (1987-1989) at Texas A&M University. He took sick leave in 8/1993 and after 1994 was on extended leave without faculties. He died 6/8/2018.

Br. Adrian. Ordained to the priesthood in 1972. Teacher at Bishop Guertin High School. A former student alleged that in 1981 (after he graduated) he went to Morel for counseling because of a sexual problem and that Morel told him to unzip his pants, then fondled him. The former student said he left but that next time he saw Morel, Morel hugged him and told him he loved him. The man then wrote a letter to the head brother at Bishop Guertin. Morel died in 3/98.

Sent for treatment in 1982 after admitting to a long history of involvement with adult women. [See Attorney General 's report for relevant documents.] In 3/1994 a woman in her 30s and her sister and brother told the Diocese that Nolin was sexually involved in the 1960s and 1970s with their mother when they were children. The priest had the family move into a house he owned in Keene. The woman said that when she was age 12 or 13, Nolin would come into her bedroom and touch her genital area under her nightgown. Nolin denied abusing the girl. Faculties removed in 6/1994. The Diocese reportedly told his alleged victim they believed her but that there was not enough evidence to take action. Name not on list sent to Attorney General's office; it was sent separately a month later. Laicized in 11/2006, announced in 1/2007. Last known to be living in New Mexico.

Fr. Eugene Pelletier

The criminal investigation was still ongoing at the time. Claims likely part of 5/03 settlement involving 61 plaintiffs. Assigned to a life of prayer and penance and deceased, per the diocese's list 7/31/19. Accused in a lawsuit that settled in 4/20 in the low five figures of fondling a boy, age 17, in 1987, in the St. John Neumann Parish rectory in Merrimack.

Fr. George H. Robichaud

Victim went to police, then taped a conversation with Robichaud in which Robichaud apologized and said that he had been in recovery for 10 years. Also admitted abuse of another youth. One criminal mistrial. Retrial stopped in 7/2003 and charges later dropped on age issues and the statute of limitations. A civil suit was filed in 5/2002 regarding abuse in 1982-1983. Settled in 2003. Deceased, per the diocese's list 7/31/2019.


Fr. Joseph Sands

Age of the complainant at the time of the abuse is unknown. Sands was murdered 5/11/1979 when he tried to negotiate a hostage situation in the rectory of St. Rose of Lima in Littleton, NH. He was taken hostage and killed by a couple who then shot and killed themselves.

Grand Rapids paid three sisters $500K in 1994 for abuse by Sullivan when they were ages 7-12. Privileges removed multiple times. Died in 1999 in San Diego CA. Named in a new suit filed in Arizona in 6/2013 against the Gallup NM diocese. Subject of settlement, per Attorney Garabedian in 4/2022. Included on the Gallup diocese's list of credibly accused.

From Spain. Full name Oscar Juan Turrión Pablos. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 4/21 of sexually abusing a boy in the early 1990s at Immaculate Conception Apostolic School in Center Harbor. A boy reported to school authorities in the early 1990s that Torrion had abused him. Turrion was then a seminarian; he was allowed to progress toward ordination. Per the order in 2021, Turrion was assigned to work with adults outside of the U.S. Worked 2007-14 at Pontifical International College Maria Mater Ecclesiae in Rome. He left the priesthood in 2017 after fathering two children.

Fr. Paul E. Vadeboncoeur

Fr. Romeo J. Valliere

Admitted abusing two boys. The Diocese settled one claim in 4/2005 for an undisclosed amount. A man said that as a child Valliere would give him beer and marijuana at the rectory. Valliere's file included a 1976 letter from a parent complaining about drunk youths at the rectory. Placed on sick leave in 1989 after complaints by three women in his parish. On sick leave 4/1/1989 - 6/20/1990 for therapy. Assigned to another parish. On sick leave again 1/26/1996 until he retired in 6/2001. Privileges removed in 2002. Laicized, per the Diocese's list 7/31/2019. Died in 2007.

Fr. Roland W. Veilette

Veilette (or Veillette) died in 1983. Named in a 5/2002 lawsuit by a man who alleged Vielette abused him in 1973. Personnel file contains a 2/2002 memo in which the plaintiff said he was assaulted by Veilette and another priest in 1973, shortly after his father passed away. Both priests were said to have befriended him and would take him camping and give him gifts. A second man filed suit in 6/2002 alleging that he was assaulted by Veilette from 1956 to 1958, and that the incidents occurred in the priest's car.

Fr. John Voglio

Accused during an AG investigation in 3/2002 of repeated sexual abuse of a 12-year-old boy in 1982 at Camp Don Bosco in NH. Voglio was a Salesian brother at the time and camp counselor. Later in 1982 Voglio wrote to the alleged victim from OH, saying that he was going on to become a priest. He was ordained for the Salesians in 1987 and worked in a Salesian High School and a parish in the NY archdiocese. Name included on the NY archdiocese's list 4/26/2019, noting that Voglio was removed from ministry and laicized. Per the Salesians list in 3/2020, he withdrew from the order in 1994. Reportedly in 3/2023, Voglio was running a charity that gave scholarships to Catholic schools for underprivileged children, and "mingles with children and teenagers who attend charity events." The charity was founded in 2000 by accused priest John Harrington.


Jeanne Wilfort

Accused in 1999 of sexually abusing a nun, age 27, in the Winnipeg archdiocese 1978-79. Wilfort was then superior of the order's Western Canada Province. Abuse allegedly included digital penetration and was represented as therapeutic. Complainant had been recruited from the Manchester NH diocese during a retreat by Wilfort. The Vatican investigated the charges in 2000. Complainant filed suit in 2002, but when she died in 2004, the suit was dismissed. Other victims are alleged, ages unspecified.

Fr. Edward J. Zalewski

Died in 1976. A woman notified the Diocese in 5/2007 that Zalewski "hugged her to his body" at St. Joseph church in Lincoln in 1956, when she was approximately age 12. In 2/2021 a man received a settlement for $30K from the Diocese. The man had come forward to allege that when he was age 11 in the summer of 1963, Zalewski sexually abused him while he was visiting a rest home that his friend's grandmother owned. He said that afterward he rode his bike to the police station in Penacook and reported the abuse.
