Ordained for the Diocese of Albany. Transferred to the Archdiocese of Anchorage in 1969, where he remained until his death in 11/2020. Accused in a 5/2021 lawsuit, along with Fr. Francis Murphy, of sexually abusing a minor in the mid-1980s. Said to have settled. Had been identified in on the Archdiocese's list in 1/2020 of credibly accused of "sexual misconduct involving a vulnerable adult on or about 1986."


Fr. Rene Astruc

Per the Jesuits West Province 12/7/2018 list, Astruc sexually abused teenage girls over three decades in remote Native schools and orphanages where he worked. He died 6/28/2002. On the Anchorage archdiocese's list 1/16/2020. It notes sexual misconduct with a minor in 1976 and vulnerable adult, and that he lived at the Jesuit residence in Anchorage 1971-1996.

Fr. John B. Baud

Native of France, became U.S. citizen in 1926. Spent three decades in Nulato AK mission, with shorter stints at Copper Valley School in Glenallen, then in St. Mary's, Kodiak and Ketchikan. Died in 1968. Baud's name is on the Fairbanks diocese's list of "admitted, proven or credibly accused perpetrators of sexual abuse," with one known complaint against him.

Deacon Patrick Beans, Sr.

The diocese's list in 11/20 notes one report of abuse by Beans, and that he died in 2009.

In 2003 8 men filed suit alleging abuse from 1955 to about 1977. Most settled claims against the order; claims against the diocese were pending in 2003. Two settled completely and other plaintiffs joined the case. Total of 16-18 plaintiffs made accusations. The AK Supreme Court ruled in 8/2006 that case could proceed. Claims included in a 11/2007 settlement with the Jesuits. Another 19 claims settled in 3/2011 as part of aJesuit settlement. Included on the Jesuit West Province list 12/7/2018. Fr. Robert F. Corrigal

On the Jesuit West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes claims reported in 2009 of abuse in 1959 and 1968-1972.

Fr. Dominic De Domenico

Reportedly in 2005, De Domenico was accused of a "manipulative" relationship with a girl in Anchorage, with the crossing of sexual boundaries when she was age 15 in the mid-1970s, then kissing and fondling beginning when she was age 16 and continuing into adulthood. De Domenico was in the archdiocese 1976-1981. Archdiocesan officials knew in at least 1987. The Dominicans' Sexual Misconduct Committee recommended his return to ministry. In 2005 he was not in public ministry and was living at a Dominican seminary in Oakland, CA. He also worked in the Oakland diocese. Included on the Holy Name Province Dominicans list in 10/2021. Noted to be living a live of prayer and penance under supervision with a safety plan.

Spent most of his priesthood in AK. Died 11/15/2996. Accused in a 2005 lawsuit of sexually abusing a girl over a 3-year period, beginning in 1966 when she was age 9. Two men joined the suit in 2/2006. Endal was the supervisor of two other accused Jesuits, Lundowski and Smario, and did not act when he received complaints against them. Claims included in 11/2007 settlement with the Jesuits. In 1/2009 43 suits were filed against Jesuits; many named Endal as abuser. Fr. Andrew M. Eordogh

In 2008 returned to Canada, where he died 4/11/2020 at age 92. Accused in a 2006 lawsuit of abuse of a boy beginning in the late 1960s when the boy was age 4, in the village of Holy Cross in Alaska. Claims included in 11/2007 settlement with the Jesuits. One pending claim shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for Fairbanks Diocese 1/25/2010. On the Jesuit West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes a report in 2006 of alleged abuse of a minor 1967-1970.

Spent priesthood in AK. Removed from parish in Bethel, AK in 2003 and sent for evaluation after a woman in her 60s said he made improper advances toward her weeks prior. Moved to the Jesuits' Regis Community in Spokane, WA. Named in a  settlement in 11/2007 between the Jesuits and 110 plaintiffs. In 1/2009, 43 plaintiffs in AK sued the order and Seattle University President Rev. S. Sundborg, alleging Sundborg knew about abuse by Hargreaves and others but took no action. Two or more pending claims are shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for the Fairbanks diocese 1/25/2010. Died 02/22/2013. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes claims in 2008 and 2009 of sexual abuse of a minor 1958-1964, 1965-1966, 1967-1969, 1974, 1985 and 1990-1992. Allegedly raped boys as young as age 5. The Fairbanks diocese's list of perpetrators in 2/2020 shows there were 10 victims.

First incident of inappropriate behavior with a woman in 1997 resulted in treatment. Resigned in 2009 as pastor of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church (part of Van Nuys Eparchy based in Phoenix) after a second woman came forward. A third accusation surfaced in 2011. Two of the women were considered "vulnerable adults". After news released, two other women alleged abuse as children. Hornick 'vehemently' denied allegations. Laicization announced 4/29/2015. Archdiocese stated that it was aware of seven women with complaints against Hornick. Included on archdiocese's list 1/16/2020, noting "sexual misconduct involving minors and vulnerable adults 1970s-2000s."

One of the women and both adult children filed suit in 2005 against the Jesuits and Jacobson in an attempt to collect past child support. A 2006 suit claimed he also raped a 16-year-old girl in another village. Order knew in 1967 of "very serious moral charges" against him. Suits settled in 3/2007 for $1.96M. Suspended from assignment at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Fairbanks 5/23/2014 for "revelations of internet computer misconduct." Pleaded guilty 3/11/2015 to one count of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor after child porn and sexually explicit instant messages were found on Landry's computer. Paid a teenage boy in the Philippines to view live transmission of a minor engaging in sexual activity. Was a longtime schoolteacher in New Orleans LA; arrived in Fairbanks in 2009. Sentenced in 6/2015 to 10 years in prison, followed by lifetime of supervised release. The Fairbanks diocese's list in 11/2020 notes Landry to have been laicized. Released from prison 1/10/2023.

Sued in 2004. Accused of abuse of as many as 59 youths in villages in Alaska, including Hooper Bay, Stebbins and St. Michael, in the 1960s and 1970s. Jesuits claim he was a volunteer and not a deacon, brother or priest. Claims relating to him were included in 11/07 settlement with Jesuits. Died 1996 in Chicago. Multiple claims in 2008 after Diocese filed Bankruptcy. In 1/09 plaintiffs filed 43 civil suits against Jesuits. Many named Lundowski as abuser.

On the Jesuits West list 12/7/2018 (name misspelled McCaffery). It notes reports in 2005, 2007 and 2008 of abuse 1978-1079, 1979-1981 and 1992-1996. Living in Colombiere Jesuit Community in Portland, OR when he died 5/7/1006. His status at the time of his death was "awaiting assignment," per the Jesuits West list. On the Jesuits Northeast Province list 1/15/1019. The Fairbanks list in 11/1020 shows nine reports of abuse.

He was assigned to the mission church on an Indian reservation in Great Falls, MT 1978 until his death 1/6/1994. Claims included in 11/2007 settlement with Jesuits. In 1995 three brothers alleged abuse by McMuldren in 1985 at a camp he ran for the Archdiocese of Anchorage. McMuldren denied the charges. Archbishop Hurley declared him innocent after an investigation. Transferred to Tyler TX Diocese in 1992. Worked on the Diocesan Pastoral Council and as Director of Guidance and Counseling during the 2003-2004 school year for Bishop T. K. Gorman Catholic School. As of 3/2008 he was activities director of Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame.

Fr. Gabriel M. Menager

As part of Section 13.1, Non-Monetary Commitments, of the Society of Jesus, Oregon Province, Reorganization Plan (7/18/11) the Province agreed to post on its website the names of all members of the province who are identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse in proofs of claims filed in the bankruptcy case, and who have not denied the allegation. Gabriel Menager is included on this list. Worked in Alaska and Montana. Died 7/28/1966. On the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes claims in 2009 of sexual abuse of a minor, year unknown.

Boston personnel file released in 2003 included a 1985 police report. Removed in 1995. Five plaintiffs received $1.4M from an Anchorage settlement in 8/2006. Retired to Cuba, NM in the Gallup diocese in 1997; not given faculties. Admitted to abusing boys. Included on the Boston archdiocese's list in 8/2011. Died in 2012. Included on the Gallup diocese's list of credibly accused. On the Anchorage archdiocese's list 1/16/2020, noting sexual misconduct with minors 1966-1979. Accused in a 5/2021 lawsuit, along with Fr. Stanley Allie, of abuse in the mid-1980s in AK. Said to have settled. 


Fr. Michael Patrick Nash

In 11/2002 a man alleged abuse by Nash at ages 11-15 during 1979-1982. Other allegations arose during the review board's investigation. Nash denied all allegations. Personnel files revealed late Bishop Kenny expressed "concern" from a family in 1990. Diocese settled for $175,740 in 2004 with the man who came forward in 2002. Laicized in 2005. The Iowa Supreme Court ruled in 9/2007 that Nash be allowed to join the Iowa Bar. Admitted to the AK bar in 2008 and returned to AK to practice law in 2011. Married a woman in 2014. Nash died in a plane crash at age 68 on 7/11/2019.

Fr. Francis X. Nawn

Fr. Gerald J. Ornowski

Suit filed against Ornowski and his Order in 5/2009 alleged that he abused a young girl in the village of Stebbins at least three times 1990-1994. Bishop removed him in 6/2009 after learning of the suit. Order recalled him for testing and evaluation. Had worked at St. Mark's University Parish and Catholic Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks since 1997. Ornowski denied the allegations. Suit dismissed by court in 5/2010 after plaintiff withdrew her claims.

One claim against him is shown. He left the priesthood in 1977 and married. He died 5/24/89.

Another filed in 2/2007 against the Jesuits for transferring Poole (with knowledge of his behavior) to Portland OR where he abused a girl in the 1960s. Settlements 11/2007, 2008, 3/2011 and 2/2014. Claims in the Fairbanks bankruptcy, noting 19 reports of abuse by Poole. Name included on the Seattle archdiocese's list 1/15/2016. Worked at Bellarmine Prep and St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma 1990-2003. Was retired to the Jesuits' Regis Community in Spokane in 2003. 'Permanent Prayer and Penance' status in 2016. Died 3/28/2018.  Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018.

Br. Frederick Raehsler

Allegedly involved in sexual misconduct with a minor 1988-1993. Worked in AK as a Physician Assistant and was involved with a Skagway parish. Returned to his order in 1993. Worked as a Physician's Assistant and/or nurse also in Blanchard MI, South Bend IN, and Wilkes Barre PA.

Fr. Bradley R. Reynolds

Reknowned photographer and writer. Frequently visited AK to visit and take photos, not formally assigned there. Often quoted as a spokesman for the Oregon Province. Worked at Seattle U. 1983-90. Suit filed 8/08 alleges Reynolds abused two boys, ages 9 and 11, at Toksook Bay at some point. Placed on leave in 8/08, investigated by the Order. Review Board deemed the allegations not credible. In 2004 another Jesuit, Rev. Dave Reynolds, SJ, had alerted leadership to sexual wrongdoing by Reynolds with young men and boys in the AK village. Sent for a psych eval. Two or more pending claims shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for Fairbanks Diocese 1/25/10. Subsequently assigned to Gonzaga U. as Assistant Director of Campus Ministry. Requests made to Seattle Archbishop and Tacoma Bishop to remove his privileges. Quietly left Gonzaga at the end of the 2019 school year.

Deacon Anton Smario

Accused of molesting several girls when he was a lay Franciscan serving as a missionary on St. Michael Island in the 1960s-1970s. Smario denied abuse but admitted being nude in front of girls occasionally. Sued by at least four of the girls in 2005. Claims included in a 11/2007 settlement with the Jesuits. Plaintiffs filed 43 suits in 1/2009 alleging the Jesuits had knowledge of abusive priests and did nothing. At least two named Smario. More claims filed in 2010. In 3/2011, 20 settled as part of a massive settlement. Per the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans on their list 5/31/2019, Smario was a lay person, not a Franciscan friar.

Included on the archdiocese's list of credibly accused 1/16/2020, which notes sexual misconduct with a minor 1977-1986. Wells died in 1992.
