Fr. Peter McBride
Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 2/13/19. Multiple accusations noted. Removed from ministry 10/1/94. Indicted in 2/95 on charges of sexual harassment by offensive touching of two adult female parishioners, and of molesting a girl, age 14. McBride had admitted to exposing himself to and fondling the girl. Charges were dropped in the case of abuse of the girl, the judge saying that McBride was denied his right to an attorney. The girl filed a civil case in 2/96, which settled. Six other women also claimed molestation by McBride but no prosecution due to the statute of limitations. He pleaded guilty in 2/97 to improper touching of the two adult women, in 1991 and 1992. Sentenced in 4/97 to treatment and fined $250. Sent to St. Luke Institute in Silver Spring, MD. He was later allowed to work as a weekend assistant at a parish.

Fr. Francis E. Nugent
A woman told the Salesians in 1994 that Nugent abused her and two of her brothers. Nugent was sent for therapy, then reassigned. The woman complained again to the order in 1998 after she discovered that Nugent was working at a youth camp. The order settled with her in 1998 for $250K. Per the woman, she was part of a group of up to eight children Nugent regularly abused in the 1970s. Another suit was settled in 2008, claiming abuse of a male Don Bosco Prep student 1977-1976. Named in a suit filed by four former junior seminary students. Died at age 89 on 1/20/2011 in Italy, where he had lived for many years. Included in 3/2020 on the Salesians list of credibly accused.

Fr. Thomas G. Rainforth
Accused in 7/02 by a man of molestation in 1975. Placed on leave. Returned to ministry in 8/02 after diocese said Rainforth was drunk and behavior was inappropriate but did not meet definition of abuse. Sued in 2004 by another man. Claim included in 2/05 $5M settlement with 27 plaintiffs, most of whom were abused by Rev. James Hanley. Rainforth's accuser later died of a drug overdose. In a 12/19 suit Rainforth was accused of sexual abuse by another man, who also alleged abuse as a boy by Hanley. Rainforth is "recently" deceased, per the diocese in 12/19.

Fr. Jude S. Salus
Accused in a lawsuit filed 11/17/21 of sexually abusing boy, age 14, in 1993-94, while assigned to Delbarton School. The boy was a Delbarton student. Salus taught religion at the school while assisting at area parishes on the weekends. He was later pastor for many years at Mt. Carmel in Cedar Knolls. In 11/21 he reportedly remained active at St. Mary's Abbey in Morristown, and as chaplain at Newton Medical Center and for the Filippini Sisters at Villa Walsh.

Fr. Bruno Ugliano
In 7/02 a woman told the diocese in 10/01 that Ugliano sexually abused her at age 14 in the early 1980s, while assigned to a Linden parish. She also accused Revs. Edward Eilert and Joseph Rice. Ugliano was temporarily suspended. Law enforcement deemed the allegations not credible. (She received a settlement in a suit regarding the two other priests.) Ugliano was accused in a 5/21 lawsuit, along with Rev. Manus Duffy and Bro. Jonathan Michael Hunt, of sexually abusing a Delbarton School student, ages 13-14, 1977-78. Ugliano was assistant Delbarton headmaster 1975-78 and headmaster 1985-90. He died 11/17/14.
