In 1993 a 30-year-old woman reported to San Francisco that Baquedano Pech sexually abused her for several years, beginning when she was 11; the Archdiocese said it was not responsible because he was a visiting priest. She repeatedly warned Mexico church officials, but was kept in ministry there. The woman sued the San Francisco Archdiocese and received a settlement in 2006.
