Fr. Ronald Lane Fontenot
Accused of abusing in LA in the mid-1970s. A civil suit was filed in LA in 1983. Placed on leave and sent for counseling. Transferred to Spokane as a drug/alcohol counselor. Abused at least three there. Convicted in 1986. Sentenced to one year in jail and two years treatment at the Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs, NM, as well as three years’ probation. Six civil suits were filed in Spokane in 1986 and settled in 1989. Another civil suit was filed there in 2003. Went by “Jean-Paul Fontenot.” Died in 2014. Included on the diocese’s list in 4/2019.
