Br. Robert Burgess
Made his profession as a Salesian brother in 1967. Withdrew from the order in 1976. A plaintiff’s attorney notified the Boston DA in 3/2002 that his client had been abused in 1970 by Burgess and another Salesian brother. The abuse by Burgess allegedly occurred on a trip back from a camp in NH and in Burgess’ room at rectory in Boston. Documents were included with the Manchester AG report in 3/2003 and the NH AG Audit Report of 3/7/2009. Lawsuit settled. Allegations referred to Suffolk DA. Omitted from the 2011 Boston AD database because he was a member of an Order. Included on the Salesians list of credibly accused in 3/2020.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
