Fr. Russell Gerald Appleby
Also known as Gerald Russell Appleby. In 1994 a young man accused Appleby of molestation over a 2-year period. Suit filed in 1996; later dropped. Appleby left St. Petersburg in 1979; Diocese said no knowledge of complaints until 1994. Order paid the accuser $4,800 for therapy in 1995. Removed by Order in 1990 or 1991; laicized in 1995. Arrested in TX on FL abuse charges in 3/2003. Pleaded guilty in 2004; sentenced to 12 years prison and 20 years sex offender probation. Died in prison in 2005. On the Corpus Christi diocese's list 1/31/2019. It notes removal from ministry in the diocese in 1983.
Fr. Robert J. Bedrosian
Named publicly as accused by the Corpus Christi diocese on its list 1/31/2019. Left the diocese in 1979. Left his order in 1985. Died 10/1/2014. Added to the Duluth diocese's list of the credibly accused in 11/2019, which notes his ordination to have been in 1966. Pastor of a Hillman parish 10/1/1980 -3/12/1981.
Fr. Victor Lucien Chateauvert
Accused of molesting two boys over a three-year period at a Bull Dog Lake parish. The boys were ages 14 and 19 when Chateauvert was arrested in 12/1992. Immediately removed from ministry and returned to Order. Sentenced to six months in jail in 2/1993. Also worked in Ottawa, Ontario Canada at Our Lady of the Visitation 1974-1978 and again in 1982. Died in 3/1999. Name included on diocese's 12/31/2013 list of 17 clergy who had been credibly accused of the sexual abuse of young persons while serving in the diocese. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.
