Fr. Jonathan Wayne Wehrle

In 2/2019 a man told the Michigan State Police that Wehrle sexually abused him a a 14-year-old high school freshman in 1999. He said that he asked Wehrle one night to come pick him up because he had been drinking and didn’t feel well. Further, Wherle took the him to his bedroom and performed fellatio on him (the boy). The alleged victim did not want to prosecute. In 6/2020 another man reported to law enforcement that Wehrle sexually abused him, including sodomy, at age 14 or 15 during sleepovers at Wehrle’s house. The man believed that Wehrle spiked the warm milk he (the boy) was having with Xanax. Reportedly Wehrle was a foster parent 1983-2003 and raised 3 adopted sons. In 2017 Wehrle was placed on leave due to charges that he had embezzled over $5M from his parish. He had not yet faced trial at the time of his death in 3/2020.
