Fr. Gerard P. Walsh
In 3/2002 a man gave the Worcester County D.A. a written confession from Walsh regarding his abuse, which began in the late 1970s. Walsh had been serving as chaplain with the MA state police. Walsh admitted the abuse and was removed from police and parish duties in 3/2002. Resigned in 2003. The Diocese had known of the abuse since 1998 when Walsh’s victim reported it in a letter. Walsh denied it at that time. In 2012 Attorney Mitchell Garabedian announced that he had settled a lawsuit(s) alleging abuse by Walsh.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
