Fr. Robert K. Towner
Assigned after ordination to parishes in Brookline and Quincy. Earned a degree as a clinical social worker in 1981 and became a therapist at Family Counseling and Guidance Centers. Went on leave of absence in 1987. Voluntarily laicized in 1990. Married a former nun and moved to NH, worked in real estate. The Archdiocese was notified in 1993 of allegations that Towner had abused at least two boys and one girl. Three suits were settled in the mid-1990s for a total of $87K. Named in some of 70 new suits filed in 1/2003 in Boston. Also accused of taking children from MA to NH and abusing them. Named in 2003 NH Attorney General’s Report and on the 8/2011 Boston archdiocese list.
