Fr. Allen Tarlton
Allegedly abused a student in 1979 at St. John’s Prep. Sent for treatment then allowed to return to teaching at the school. In a 1992 civil suit, he was accused of molesting another boy at least three times in 1982 at school. On medical leave in 1992. Worked as director of the Oblate program at St. John’s Abbey and lived under restrictions. Relieved of duties after a second suit was filed in 6/02 claiming abuse in 1985. A 7/12 lawsuit alleged fraud against Abbey. Suit filed 6/5/13 alleged abuse of a student in 1997; settled in 2015. On Abbey’s 12/9/13 list. Suit filed 4/12/16 by a former St. John’s Prep student claiming abuse 1979 or ’80; plaintiff also accused Rev. Thomas Andert. Tarlton died in 1/16.
