Fr. Richard E. Spellman
In a proof of claim filed in 5/2019 in the Archdiocese’s bankruptcy case a woman alleged that Spellman sexually abused her as a child in about 1957. The claim was included in the Archdiocese’s settlement trust in 1/2023. Spellman left the priesthood at some point and married. He died 9/2/1989. In summer 2024 a judge rued against the claimant.
