Fr. Allan E. Roche
Roche’s niece told archdiocesan officials in 1992 that he had abused her in the 1950s when she was ages 5-12. He denied the allegations and the church took no action. Per personnel records released in 2/2003, church officials knew in 1992 about prior sexual misconduct, including 4-5 relationships with women in MA and NC. Before his 1997 death, Roche admitted to abusing his niece and reached a financial settlement with her. Criminal or canonical proceedings were not complete when Roche, died per the 8/2011 Boston archdiocese list.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
