Fr. Timothy Ramaekers

Ordained: 1982
Status: Sued

Diocese: Diocese of Orange CA

The Diocese notified parishioners in 10/2010 that a man had recently alleged that he was sexually abused as a minor by Ramaekers in 1986, when Ramaekers was assigned to St. Justin Martyr in Anaheim. At the time of the notification, Ramaekers was pastor of St. Joseph’s in Placentia, a position he had held since 1997. The Diocesan Review Board found no credible evidence to support the allegation, and Ramaekers was kept in ministry. The same accuser filed suit in 2009 alleging abuse by three former priests and a lay employee. Ramaekers denied the allegation.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
