Fr. David A. Pichette

On 5/23/2011, a man made public allegations that Pichette had fondled him on two occasions and made other sexual advances in 1981 when he was a teen volunteer at Nazareth Farm in WV. Pichette worked at Nazareth Farm 6/1979-9/1988. Pichette was “on duty outside the [Syracuse] diocese” per the 1989 Catholic Directory (which reflects 1988-1989). The alleged victim said he notified the Syracuse Diocese in 2010. The Diocese said Pichette’s privileges were removed in 1993, that he was “formally removed” as a priest in 2005 and that the accuser told them in 2003. Included on the Syracuse diocese list 12/3/2018. On the Wheeling-Charleston diocese list in late 2018. It notes he left the diocese in 9/1988 and left the Syracuse diocese in 1994. Accused, along with two other priests, in a lawsuit filed in 6/2020 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a Syracuse boy. The plaintiff claims he was a freshman at Seton Central Catholic High School in 1973 when Pichette began abusing him. Pichette died 6/27/2022.
