Fr. John B. Peacock
Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 4/24/2019. Allegation in 2005 of abuse in the mid-1960s. Another allegation received in 2015 of abuse in the late 1950s. Retired in 1973. Died in 1995. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General’s Report. It shows that the 2005 allegation was from a woman who said that Peacock sexually abused her in the rectory when she was in 4th grade in the 1960s at Our Lady of Victory. She had been sent there as a punishment. She also remembered being in other’s priests’ bedrooms and thinks they may have been involved; one of them was admitted abuser John Carney. The 2015 report was by a woman who said Peacock abused her as a second or third grader at Our Lady of Victory in the 1950s. The same woman also alleged abused as a Keough High School student by Joseph Maskell.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
