Pleaded guilty in 12/2002 to three counts of child rape; sentenced to 12-15 years prison. At least 18 complaints were reported to the Archdiocese over a 20-year period; not permanently removed until 2000. Placed on leave in 1990, reinstated in 1998. Six claims were settled by the Church for over $500K. Named in a report by the NH Attorney General. Laicization announced in 5/2004. Name included in 8/2011 on the Boston archdiocese’s list of accused. Announcement on 10/2/2015 that prosecutors’ bid to have Paquin civilly committed to a facility for sexual predators was denied, after “qualified experts” deemed him not sexually dangerous. He was released the same day. Indicted in 2/2017 in ME on 29 counts of sexual misconduct with two boys in the late 1980s, some at camps in ME. Pleaded not guilty. Extradited to a ME jail. Reindicted in 11/2017; pleaded not guilty to 31 counts. Found guilty 11/29/2018 on 11 counts related to the abuse of one boy. Found not guilty of abuse of the other. Sentenced in 5/2019 to 16 years in prison. He appealed his conviction to the ME Supreme Court in 2/2020. The Court upheld the conviction in 4/2020.
