Fr. Peter P. O’Grady
From Ireland, where he was ordained in 1933. Reportedly was in WY when he first arrived in the U.S. Later joined the Jesuits’ OR Province, making his final vows in 1950. Worked in parishes and schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle and Diocese Spokane WA, Great Falls and Helena MT, Boise City ID and Portland OR. A woman filed suit in 1/2004 alleging sexual abuse by O’Grady at Jesuit House in Spokane when she was 12. O’Grady was providing supply work to parishes in Spokane at that time. He died 06/16/1993. The suit names the Jesuits’ Portland Province and Bishop Syklstad. Settled in 12/2004. The Diocese said allegations were proven or credible. Included on the Boise diocese’s list in 10/2019. It notes incidents in 1984 and 1985 while assigned to Sacred Heart in Boise, reported in 2003. Per the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018, there were claims in 2003 and 2009 against O’Grady of abuse in 1981.
