Fr. John W. Nolin
Sent for treatment in 1982 after admitting to a long history of involvement with adult women. [See Attorney General ‘s report for relevant documents.] In 3/1994 a woman in her 30s and her sister and brother told the Diocese that Nolin was sexually involved in the 1960s and 1970s with their mother when they were children. The priest had the family move into a house he owned in Keene. The woman said that when she was age 12 or 13, Nolin would come into her bedroom and touch her genital area under her nightgown. Nolin denied abusing the girl. Faculties removed in 6/1994. The Diocese reportedly told his alleged victim they believed her but that there was not enough evidence to take action. Name not on list sent to Attorney General’s office; it was sent separately a month later. Laicized in 11/2006, announced in 1/2007. Last known to be living in New Mexico.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
