Fr. James C. Miller
Miller and the Rockville Centre Diocese were sued in 1994, with claims that Miller sexually abused two teenage boys. After complaint, Miller was removed from working with children and sent to Catholic University in Washington DC to study canon law. Case settled (and sealed); per sources, diocese made cash settlement and agreed to pay for counseling. Miller said suit was settled without his permission. He denied the allegations. Included on the diocese’s list in 3/21, noting abuse allegedly occurred at St. John the Baptist High School, where he was assigned beginning in 1986.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
