Fr. Gary M. Miller

The Archdiocese announced on 7/15/2012 a recent allegation against Miller of sexual misconduct with a minor while assigned to St. Leonard Parish in Berwyn over 30 years prior. He voluntarily stepped aside from St. Bernadette Parish in Evergreen Park pending investigations by the archdiocese and police. The Review Board found the allegations credible; Miller resigned 9/23/2012 from St. Bernadette’s, privileges were removed and the Archdiocese sent a report to the Vatican. Miller agreed to a Prayer and Penance program. Included on the Archdiocese’s list in 9/2012. Documents released by the Archdiocese in 11/2014 show that Miller was frequently warned about sexual misconduct. Died in 1/2021. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General’s Report, which notes two “reported survivors,” of abuse 1973-1977 in Berwyn.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
