Removed in 4/2002 due to an allegation of abuse of teenage boy, ages 16-19, in the early 1970s. Michaud was a seminarian at the time in question. Bishop said in 2007 that there was no proof of sexual abuse of a minor but that there was other misconduct that would keep Michaud from active ministry. He is shown as on Special or Other Diocesan Assignment in the Catholic Directories 2003-2012. Name changed in the Directory’s 2004-2012 volumes to James L. Michaud. One of three priests accused in a 4/2023 lawsuit of abusing four Native American children, ages 7 to 16, at St. Ann’s on Indian Island between 1972 and 1987.
