Fr. William M. Mannion

Arrested in 3/2025, charged with the sexual abuse of an altar boy 1991-1994 at St. Agnes Parish, beginning when the boy was in second grade at St. Agnes Parish School. Mannion’s accuser filed a police report in 10/2023. Mannion allegedly told the boy that God would punish him if he didn’t comply and that his little brother and parents would go to hell. (In 1993 Mannion reported to the Archdiocese allegations that teacher John Merzbacher had sexually abused a girl, after Mannion’s victim, then an adult, confided in him. Merzbacher was convicted and died in prison in 2023.) Mannion left the priesthood in the late 1990s, married and raised a family. He was reportedly laicized in 2004.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
