“Pericles.” From the Archdiocese of Davao City, Philippines. Assigned to parishes in the Wheeling-Charleston diocese 1993-2009. Retired and living in Beckley WV when arrested in 7/2022, charged with “involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person younger than 16.” The abuse allegedly occurred over a five-year period, beginning ten years previously. Malacaman’s accuser, a family member, was age 19 in 7/2022 when he came forward to police, and said he was abused from ages 9-14. In 2022 Malacaman was 84. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in 8/2023 to 3-6 years in prison.
