Br. Richard Edward Lott
Accused in a 2005 civil suit of sexually abusing a student at Delbarton School in 1977, and of plying the boy with alcohol and marijuana. Settled in 2006. The Order said it learned of accusations against Lott in 2004 and reported it to police. A 3/17 lawsuit claimed sexual abuse by Lott 1/1/76 of another Delbarton student. This accuser said he told Abbot Brian Clark of his abuse over a year after it occurred, and that Clark told the boy to keep it quiet and that Lott would be “reined in.” The man learned years later that a second student was abused by Lott not long after he spoke with the Abbot.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
