Fr. Jose Lopez Durango
Allegations 6/13 that Lopez, a native of Colombia working in the U.S. on a religious worker’s visa, had molested a 14- year-old girl in 1/13 at St. Mary’s rectory in Passaic. Denied allegations. Removed without privileges. Arrested 7/13, charged with Luring a Child, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Sexual Contact. Released on bail. Found guilty 6/16 of luring, child endangerment and criminal sexual contact. Sentencing scheduled for 11/16. Lopez’ attorney requested new trial. On Paterson diocese’s list 2/13/19.
