Fr. John E. Leonard

Allegations in 1996 resulted only in evaluation. Removed in 5/02 after recent allegations of old abuse when he was at St. John Vianney Seminary; reinstated by Bishop Sullivan in 6/02 after he overruled the review committee. Big outcry over the decision. Civil suit in 10/03 later dismissed on SOL. Criminal charges in 2003; sentenced in 3/04 to two consecutive 12-month jail terms (suspended) and probation. Removed again in 1/04. Resigned from priesthood. Died in 2015. On diocese’s list 2/13/19.
