Lazar’s name was added 5/18/2018 to the Erie diocese’s list of credibly accused priests, lay employees and volunteers. Noted to be no longer in ministry. Died 3/18/2018 in CT. Included in 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. It revealed that Pittsburgh diocese received report in 1986 from a male teen that Lazar sexually abused him in 6/1986. Sent to a diocesan treatment facility; admitted to sexual activity with children. Went on leave of absence. Withdrew from active ministry in 9/1989. Another allegation in 9/1994 of repeated abuse in the early 1980s of a male teen. In 3/2002 a man alleged abuse in the 1960s by Lazar at St. Vincent’s Prep School in Latrobe. Lawsuit in 7/2020 claims abuse in 1975 of a 7-year-old. Included in 8/1208 on the St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe PA Benedictines’ list of credibly accused.  Included on the Pittburgh diocese’s list of credibly accused.
