Fr. Kenneth LaVan
Sued by a woman in the late 1980s who claimed abuse by him 1960-65 when she was ages 12-17. Case settled in 1992. Another woman alleged abuse as a teenage in the 1980s. Also known for relationships with adult women. Diagnosed with compulsive sexuality disorder in 1989 but not removed. Retired in 1997. Name revealed on 2/17/14 on Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis’ revised list of credibly accused priests. Removed from all active ministry 11/30/13. Information from his files released 3/31/14. Personnel files released in 8/14. Archbishop Flynn was told of his boundary violations with women in 2005. The allegations from the two girls were barely mentioned and it was said that there were significant doubts about their stories. Flynn decided no further investigation was necessary. A third teenage victim was later identified in his personnel files. Died in 2021.
