Fr. Ralph W. LaBelle
Removed in 2002 for non-sexual misconduct with two 15-year-old boys. Accused of molesting other boys before ordination and of giving alcohol to aboy, age 11. Laicized in 2005. Settlements in 5/2017 and 10/2017 via the Archdiocese’s compensation program. Included on the Archdiocese’s list 4/26/2019. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/2019 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a boy, about age 6, in 1979 at St. Clare’s on Staten Island, “including during his first reconciliation and church services.” A 2019 suit claimed abuse of a boy, ages 14-16, who attended St. Clare’s. New civil complaint in 12/2020, alleged abuse of a boy, ages 13-16, beginning in 1983. A suit in 2/2021 claims abuse of a boy, age 11, in 1987, and continuing for two years. A 3/2021 suit claims abuse of boy, 11-12, in 1980-1981. Reportedly the subject of four lawsuits in 6/2020.
