Fr. Robert S. Koerner

Worked in TX (1937-1941), MT (1956-1963) and at St. Patrick’s parish in Calipatriam, CA (1963-1990). Koerner died in 1999 in San Antonio, TX. In 10/2002 the San Diego bishop Brom learned that Koerner had molested several minors during his 27-year tenure there. His history was known in the parish for years. Brom apologized to parishioners. Koerner’s name was included on the San Diego diocese’s 3/30/2007 list of priests with credible allegations. Koerner’s diocesan personnel file released was 10/25/2010. The Order’s personnel files released 7/2013 show that Koerner admitted to fondling and kissing boys and girls. Named in three lawsuits in 2003, and four other settlements. Suit filed in 1/2020 under the CA Child Victims Act by five men, each alleging abuse by Koerner 1965 through the late 1980s.
