Br. James H. Kline
In 2014 fellow Marianist Bro. Bernard Hartman was facing trial in Australia on child abuse allegations when a man came forward to allege abuse while he was a student at North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. After the Pittsburgh Diocese sought information on other possible victims, allegations were made against seven other brothers, including at least one against Kline. Kline was at North Catholic 1940-1947. Also worked in OH, DC and Puerto Rico. He died in 12/1997. Head of Marianist Order apologized in writing to the diocese and students.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
