Fr. Edward M. Keohan
Spent five years as a missionary, mostly in Peru. One of 16 priests named for the first time in lawsuits filed in 1/2003 by 70 plaintiffs. Accused of fondling a teenage boy at St. Rose of Lima in Chelsea MA. The Archdiocese did not place him on leave until 8/2003 because it said the lawsuit did not contain enough information to justify removal. Accuser received a six-figure settlement; Keohan was exonerated by the Review Board and returned to active status in 3/2005. Per the 8/2011 Boston archdiocese’s list, Keohan was retired with no restrictions. He died 9/12/2015.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
