Br. Edward Anthony Holmes

Residential counselor at Nazareth Child Care Center in Jamaica Plain which was run by the archdiocese. Left the order in 2002. Arrested in 2005 for the abuse and photographing of two boys at the home in the 1970s and 1980s. “Housemates” found photos in 1989. Both victims made complaints in 2003. Sentenced in 12/2006 to 5 years and 1 day in prison. Pleaded guilty in 2008 to raping a third boy; 2 more years added to sentence. At least 4 claims were included in a 2003 global settlement with the archdiocese. One was pending as of 5/2010. Omitted from the 2011 Boston Archdiocese’s database. Reportedly died in 2011. Lawsuit filed in 7/2017 by a man claiming abuse by Holmes as a boy, ages 8-11, in the 1970s at Nazareth and on camping trips in NH. The plaintiff said he told his mom, who told a nun in charge of his cottage at Nazareth, and that the nun’s response was to punish him.
