Fr. Gerald J. Hickey

Former chaplain for New England Patriots football team. Unassigned since 1994. Resumed limited parish work in 1998. Two nephews came forward in 3/2002 alleging abuse. One said he told the archdiocese by letter in 1992 and filed suit, which was dismissed. The Archdiocese paid for two years’ counseling. Hickey was placed on leave in 2/2002. Living in Scituate MA in 10/2008. Per the 8/2011 Boston Archdiocese’s list, either its Review Board found the accusations unsubstantiated or he was acquitted by a canonical process. Retired; privileges still restricted in 10/2015. Died in 2018.
