Fr. Henry G. Hargreaves
Spent priesthood in AK. Removed from parish in Bethel, AK in 2003 and sent for evaluation after a woman in her 60s said he made improper advances toward her weeks prior. Moved to the Jesuits’ Regis Community in Spokane, WA. Named in a settlement in 11/2007 between the Jesuits and 110 plaintiffs. In 1/2009, 43 plaintiffs in AK sued the order and Seattle University President Rev. S. Sundborg, alleging Sundborg knew about abuse by Hargreaves and others but took no action. Two or more pending claims are shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for the Fairbanks diocese 1/25/2010. Died 02/22/2013. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes claims in 2008 and 2009 of sexual abuse of a minor 1958-1964, 1965-1966, 1967-1969, 1974, 1985 and 1990-1992. Allegedly raped boys as young as age 5. The Fairbanks diocese’s list of perpetrators in 2/2020 shows there were 10 victims.
