Fr. David J. Hanser
Four brothers came forward in 1988 with allegations that Hanser abused them as boys about 30 years prior. Hanser, who “retired” in 4/02, had worked in the Milwaukee hospital system since 1991. One of the men who reached a $65K settlement with the Archdiocese in 1990 also sued Hanser in 2002. Settled in 2003. Accused of abusing at least a dozen children in the 1960s-1980s. Retired without privileges in 2002. Laicized in 2005. New suit filed in 9/09 by two.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
