Fr. Augustus “Gus” Griffin
From Ireland. Accused in civil suit filed summer, 2007 of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy in the 1970s at St. Bernard’s in Sunrise, FL. Accused in a suit filed in 8/2019 of abusing a 12-year-old altar server at St. Mary’s in East Islip NY in 1968. Included on the St. Augustine diocese’s list 11/6/2020 for abuse in 1969. Convicted in 1998 of abuse of boys in Ireland in 1976 and 1981-1983. On the Rockville Centre diocese’s list in 3/2021 as Augustin Griffin OSF, for abuse alleged at St. Mary’s in East Islip and St. Bernard in Levittown, no time-frame for the abuse shown. It does show that he was assigned 12/1985-6/18/1986 to St. Patrick’s in Huntington and 6/18/86-unknown to St. Martin of Tours in Amityville. Died 8/9/2010 in Ireland.
