Fr. Louis J. Govoni
Files released in 1/2003 show that Govoni was accused of abusing a male student at Archbishop Williams High in 1972-1974. Cardinal Mederios was warned in 1977 that teenage boys frequently stayed in Govoni’s room and that one was seen partially undressed at 2:00 a.m. Absent “without permission” from ministry from 1978. Lawsuit filed in 8/2002. Working in 2003 as a substitute teacher at Duxbury High School. Fired immediately after news of the allegations. Voluntary laicization in 2010 announced 2/11/2011. The Boston archdiocese’s list in 8/2011 notes that the case concluded canonically. Per the list in 8//2022, Govoni died in 2020.
