Fr. Thomas M. Gannon
Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Midwest Province on its list 12/17/2018. Multiple allegations of abuse, occurring while assigned to St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, OH 1961-1964; St. James Church in Gary, IN in 1983; and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Chicago, IL in 1993. Died 12/19/2011. The Province’s 2/21/2020 revised list adds alleged abuse 1977-1978 while at Loyola University in Chicago and in 1998 while assigned to Holy Family Parish in Chicago. Included on the Chicago archdiocese’s list in 10/2022. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General’s Report, which notes 6 “reported survivors.” In 8/2023 a man publicly stated that Gannon sexually abused him when he was an 11-year-old altar boy in 1971, at St. Jerome’s in Chicago.
