Fr. Jean-Paul Gagnon
A psychological evaluation in 1977 prior to ordination indicated that Gagnon had possible “sex role identification” problems. Sued in 9/2002, accused of molesting a boy, ages 10-17, in the 1980s. Took personal leave, then placed on leave by the bishop in 7/2003. Part of civil suit settled in 5/2004. Criminal charges were filed and he was arraigned in 2004 on charges of sexually assaulting an adult male parishioner in 10/2002, and assault and battery of another. Pleaded not guilty. Sentenced to 18 months supervised probation in 2005.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
