Fr. Daniel L. Friedman

Accused of sexual advances towards boy at a summer camp in 1986. The Vicar General recommended Friedman’s removal in 1988 but no action was taken until further investigation in 1994. He was later reinstated to a parish but not to camp duties. A woman sued him in 2/2002 alleging that he had fondled her during counseling sessions; the suit was dropped in 6/2002. Friedman was removed in 9/2002 pending review of the 1986 allegations. Again allowed to return to active ministry in 4/2003, after a review by the diocese’s Fitness Review Board.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
