Fr. James M. Frederick
Included on the Joliet diocese’s 4/10/2006 list of priests with substantiated allegations. Died in 1988. Per 2013 articles and personnel files, Frederick was dean of students at the former St. Charles Borromeo [minor] seminary in Romeoville in the mid-1960s. Several students complained to the seminary rector in 1967; Bishop removed Frederick. He later was assigned as CFO for the Diocese. The Diocese agreed to release Frederick’s personnel files in 3/2013 as part of a settlement in Rudofski v Joliet & Bennett. Files released 4/30/2014. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General’s Report, which notes 2 “reported survivors.”
