Fr. James J. Foley
Boston priest, worked in the Santa Fe archdiocese 11/1997-1999. Personnel file released in 12/2002 showed Foley was placed on leave in 1999 for allegedly fondling a 14-year-old boy’s genitals under pretense of measuring him for body building training. Foley claimed he was guilty only of “gross stupidity and indiscretion.” Sent to Southdown Institute in Toronto, Canada for treatment. Reassigned in Boston. Banned from ministering to minors in 2000. On administrative leave with canonical case in progress per the Archdiocese’s list in 8/2011. A second man came forward 2011, alleging abuse at Holy Name from 1984 or 1985 to 1996. His allegations were made public in 9/2012. Died in 2016, canonical case not completed. Included 5/19/2021 on the Santa Fe archdiocese’s list.
