Was living in the Netherlands in retirement when suspended in 12/2020 by Bishop Aymond, pending the investigation of an allegation of abuse in the mid-1970s of an altar boy. In a 1/2021 interview deWater denied wrongdoing and said the alleged victim should not “dwell on things when he was a young boy.”
