Fr. Joseph Correnti
First named publicly as accused on the diocese’s 9/10/2018 list, noting two known victims. Died by suicide 4/3/2002. Accused in a lawsuit in 8/2019 of sexually abusing a boy, ages 14-15, during 1995-2002. Per the suit, there were at least five known victims. A sixth man accused Correnti in a suit filed in 8/2020 of sexually abusing him as an altar boy, age 13 or 14, around 1983-1984. Correnti allegedly forced the boy into oral and anal sex on multiple occasions. Another priest was said to have discovered the boy in Correnti’s living quarters, chastised the boy and took no action against Correnti. The suit was settled.
