Accused 1/22/2002 of abusing two boys, ages 14 and 15, in 1966 or 1967. After a 2-year term as pastor 1983-1985 and a 3-year demotion, Coonan was a U.S. Air Force chaplain 1988-1996, after which he worked in a parish and as a hospital chaplain. Restricted in 1/2002 to saying mass privately. Retired 2/26/2002. Evaluated at St. John Vianney Hospital in 3/2002. Additional restrictions were placed on his ministry 9/10/2004. Faculties removed 10/8/2004; supervised.
