Fr. Denis A. Conte
Personnel file released in 12/2002. Removed from active ministry in 1994 after the Archdiocese received a demand letter from the attorney for a man who said Conte had sexually abused him when he was 11 or 12. He admitted sharing a bed with the boy and kissing him on the lips but denied sexual abuse. Settled in 1995 for $150K. Also accused of abuse in NH. Voluntary laicization in 2004 announced in 6/2005. Boston archdiocese list in 8/2011 says case concluded canonically. Settlement in 11/2022 in the high five figures of a claim that Conte sexually abused a boy, ages 12-15 during 1978-1981, while assigned to St. Anthony’s in Revere. The abuse allegedly occurred in St. Anthony’s rectory and in a house in New Hampshire.
